Panasonic RR-830 only rewinds and fast-forwards, will not play

I just bought a transcriber from someone local I found on Craigslist and, although they said it was brand new, it does not play. I know that buying a transcriber without testing it was not a good idea, but I'm a struggling student and was trying to get a transcriber to use a home to help me improve my medical transcribing skills. Does anyone have an idea how I might fix the transcriber; I might as well take the thing apart since it does me no good in its current state. The electronic repair stores wanted $40 just to look at it.

If the foot pedal is pluged in, press the play button and then you should be able to activate it with the pedal.

Panasonic RR-930 does not backspace with or without pedal. It engages the mechanism but appears stuck when tape is inserted. Runs fine without tape in deck.

The ancient tape is junk. Buy a new one. You might also try slamming the old tape against a wall or desk to loosen up the tape layers. Then FF and RW all the way.

How do i get a sony microcassette transcriber m-2000 to play/rewind/fast forward continuously?

Probably has a bad sensor belt (small belt attached to silver and black reflective wheel).

During transcription, when you release the foot pedal, the tape automatically rewinds a little so you can resume easily. This no longer happens with my machine. I have tried several foot pedals, but the...

It could be the rewind solenoid is jamed up or there is a switch that comes loose under the tape deck. Either way, it will need to be serviced.

It won't play, rewind or fast forward.

Most likely the belt is broken or has jumped off. This requires some major disassembly, but the belts can be purchased for about $2. If the belt is okay, then check motor leads, they often break off.

Machine will play cassettes but not rewind or ff

Most likely the unit needs new belts. Also possible that a switch has broken. the switched is underthe tape deck on the circuit board.

Suddenly my Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber will not PLAY. The tape will Rewind and Fast Forward fine, but when you push PLAY, it just beeps and won't move. Any ideas?

Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.

Tape plays too fast on slowest setting

The tapes may have been recorded at 1/2 speed or 1/4 speed so they are not playable on this model.
