It sounds that the DVD Disc is not loading properly, and does not get seated inside the mechanism. This is purely a mechanical fault. Contact any service technician. The set should have to disassemble to take out the mechanism, and this is a skilled work. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

Bad laser , or scratched disc .try at first to clean the laser lens using cotton ear sticks moistened with saliva.

It's burn.My mini mp3 player not work today.

If you've already tried to clean the lens then with no improvement then its down to the laser having failed.

In some cases these are availble as a replacement part but aren't normally cost effective.

unfortunately Philips DVD players are more precious/ selective on DVDs than the other brands..it is true especially with "Copied DVD"..normally an original DVD should not cause such problem..however if your DVD disc itself is not clean ( i.e.finger prints ) the reading LASER sometimes has problem to read it..
I recommend to buy a "wet DVD laser cleaner system" and clean your laser on DVD and your DVD discs as well..it is available any HI-FI store..

Try a lens cleaner cd, as when the lens gets misaligned or if it's quite old, it will find it harder to read a DVD as the tracks are much closer together than that of a VCD as they are cd's and their tracks are wider apart and easier to read.
