If the problem does not lies with the remote control, it should be the problem of the infrared receiver on the television. IR receivers rarely breaks down, but it does.
There is no simple to way to change this (unless you're into soldering), so try using the buttons that came with the television instead, or get an exchange if it's still under warranty.

No universal remote control will work with any TVs as well as the original ones. If the original remote control do not get range, there are two reasons for it; and can be repaired to.
1. Battery weak [Replace with new batteries]
2. The infra-red light emitting diode at the front of the remote control is weak.[Can be replaced with a new one. It can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops]
Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. What is the tv code for sylvania model #SST4324

Hi,
1. Your TV has a high failure rate with the IR module. When this goes bad no remote will work with your TV. If you still have your OEM remote try testing it to see if it is transmitting a signal. Instructions below.
2. Many universal will not work your model TV. I suggest getting an OEM remote. You ca purchase from link below. SYLVANIA NE139UD TV Remote Control How To Test My Remote Control ReplacementRemotes com

Remot control working but not properly

Option 1: Purchase replacement remote
Option 2: Purchase a universal remote
Option3: Like most remotes they can be disassembled and the board and rubber pads cleaned with de-natured alcohol and reassembled. This may work but is tedious. Unless batteries have leaked in the remote. Then replacement is your only recourse.

Hi, I have a Yamaha rx-v450 amp that won't change sound modes (stereo, hall, jazz, rock etc) from the remote control but it works from the buttons on the unit. I've checked my remote by pointing it...

Hi! Transmitting doesn't mean it's working, What you should do to test it is use a good quality universal remote such as a Logitech Harmony and first program the preset code for your receiver into the Universal Remote. If that works, you know your OEM remote has gone bad, at least for those buttons. If it doesn't then you you should attempt to have your Universal Remote "learn" the IR signals from your receiver's remote If the controls still don't work, there is a problem with either your IR receiver on your receiver or the the circuitry that proceesses the signals into commands. Good Luck!

Hi,

Please try to programme your GE remote to your TV

2.Hold down the "Code Search" or "Setup" button until the LED indicator light turns on.

3.Hit the button for the component that you are programming (TV,DVD VCR, etc.). The LED light should flicker and stay on.

4.Enter the 3-digit or 4-digit code that corresponds to the TV or device that you're operating. The LED light should go off if the code is valid, but will flash if it is not. Try other codes you have.

5.Try turning the television or other programmed component off to ensure that the remote works properly, once the light has gone off.

2.Hold down the "Code Search" or "Setup" button until the LED indicator light turns on.

4. Press and release the "Power" until the television or other component turns off while waiting at least 2 seconds between each press.

5.Press "Enter" or "Save" once the remote has effectively turned the power off. The LED light will shut off and the remote will now operate the device.

First before I begin, please do not ask me to pay anything to get an answer for codes that is terrible. It is only numbers that we need. I purchased a emerson jumbo remote for my mother. She recently just...

Most likely the Emerson remote was programmed many years prior to the satellite receiver manufacturer loading their code into the box. (I have a similar remote) The fact is that remote may simply be too old to accept the newer code format that manufacturers now use. I cannot remember if that remote has a learn function, if it does you can teach it the satellite remote frequency though it may be button by button.

As an altertnative the links below may offer some choices.
