A learning remote lets you program it with the original remote. I did it today with a Phillips brand remote I bought at Wal-mart. I have an cheap Memorex TV and when I pressed the volume down button on my Comcast remote, the TV setup menu appeared. I had to "teach" the new Phillips universal remote by pointing it at the original remote that came with my TV and pressing cooresponding buttons on both units. It was a bit of work, but it worked.

I guess this is useless unless you have the remote that came with the unit and don't mind switching to a new remote that has learning capabilities.

I can only suggest that you Double check you have the connections correctly set ie. coax ariel to ,(dvd /digi box reciever ect...)
Also check again (& i know this is state the obvious)
your tv manual. IF you havent a manual do a google search for your tv (make & model) & search for a manual.

Ive have had a simmular experience when programming channels to a Vid-Recorder & when i finished the channels dissapeared.

I realised I didnt have the video set to the correct channel with the tv usually channel 9 or the highest channel on the tv.
So i waisted a good half hour for nothing.
