Here is the site for your mainboard. Select your Operating System and you will find the drivers for your hardware. I think your network card is part of the chipset drivers so make sure you get them installed. Good luck!

Your board has the nForce 4 chipset from nVidia which is what controls your network chipset. If your running XP you can get the drivers here. If its another OS you can get the drivers from the nVidia site. Look under Legacy Drivers-->nForce 4 AMD.

Can't start my wireless modem

I think the problem is you cannot connect to the internet wirelessly using your laptop. The problem may lie in the modem or in the laptop itself.
First you need to isolate the problem. That is, determine if the laptop or your modem is the one that has the problem. If you can connect to the internet using your laptop in someone elses home network or free wifi outside your home, then the problem is your modem. BTW, modems don't have the capability to connect wireless devices to the internet. You need a wireless router. If what you have is a router, you're on the right track.
If your laptop can detect your home network, try connecting to it. If you're getting an error, call your Internet Service Provider. They should be able to help you fix the problem. Also, try updating the driver of your laptop's wireless card. You can do this by hardwiring your laptop onto your router, go to device manager, right click on your wireless card, then hit update driver. If nothing works, call your laptop's OEM.

How do I get wi-fi anywhere?

You cant. The only reason why sometimes you can connect to the internet by connecting to a network anywhere you are is that those networks are unsecured. Most of the time when people setup a wireless network, they just dont secure it by creating an SSID. The down side to this is that anyone can connect to your network and share your internet bandwidth, when your the normal user who just browse some websites and just sends emails, then you wont notice that somebody's sharing your internet, but when you need high internet connection like when your playing online with your PS3 or joining network games, it would slow you down.

The best solution to surf or go to the internet anywhere is by getting an internet DONGLE from an internet service provider. So you can take it anywhere and not worry wether the place your at would have an unsecured network or not.

Thanks!

The Router Settings seem to be fine...Also 2 Vista Machines have access to internet without any problems, your router seems to be functional...I would suggest you to update the adapter drivers, it should resolve your concern...

Dell Lattitude X300 '' Network Controller Driver ''

Okay I see these post are old but they in no way helped me so I found out the hard way of trail and error. If you have restored your operating system like I did and did not use the software that came with your dell this is going to happen. To fix it is simple you just have to know what to download and install and here it is from the dell website, Download Now
http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R134882.EXE','179650','http://xserv.dell.com/dm/DownloadManager/DellDriverDownloadManager.application?c=us&l=en&fileid=179650&fileloc=ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R134882.EXE&size=94495208&IsSecure=false');
If you don`t have a highspeed connection plan on waiting awhile. I downloaded form another pc to cd then inserted into my x300 and before the install even finished I seen the wireless manager come up. Yes! Please please if you used this and it worked for you please post to another user`s question. I don`t have time to answer them all but if we all do it everyone will know and life will be much easier. Thanks

Help Installing network adapter for dell inspiron 8600

You need the driver for the Network Adapter. There are two ways to get it: Dell normally also supplies another disk that says "Drivers loaded on your system". But the best way to get the current driver is to go into device manager. Scroll down until you see network adapter. Click on the "+" to open it and right click on the device. Then click on install drivers. That should do it...If you have any questions let me know.
