Have you dropped it recently? If so, the ribbon connecting the screen might have come loose. If it does have a warranty, you will want to contact Canon and see if the issue is covered.
Otherwise, remove the battery, hold the power button to the on position for 10 seconds, then release. Place the battery back into the camera and turn on. This might clear any issues with power the screen might be experiencing.

SOURCE: Canon EOS Rebel problem

This is usually caused by a defective shutter release switch - it'll have to go into a repair shop - independent shops will charge about $110 USD - Canon charges about $180

SOURCE: Canon EOS 40D not working when turned on

Took to a camera store and they put my lens on a different camera body and lens didn't work. So the problem is the auto focus in the lens itself. It is nothing I can fix myself.  I am now sending it to Canon for repair - hopefully won't need a new lens!  Thanks for the help!

SOURCE: canon power shot SD750 can't take pic with flash

Hi

Your flash is defective, or the mainboard is defective and cannot control the flash. The only way to figure out which is the problem is to start by replacing the flash and see if it works.

You can probably find a parts camera online and use it to fix yours, if not let us know and we can help. We are an affordable digital camera repair business.

My lcd display won't show the camera image while taking pics but it will show the menu and previously taken photos by pressing the play button. What could be wrong?

Turn the camera on, and press the DISP button on the back of the camera. This turns the LCD screen on and off. The idea of this button is to save battery power (you would then use the peep hole optical viewfinder in its place).

My Canon powershot SD1000 screen isn't working. Iv'e charged the battery but when I turn the camera on, the screent is black. It won't take any pictures

It's very likely the CCD sensor that needs to be replaced. If you need to have it serviced, this place is excellent for the Powershots and not much at all if you need to have one fixed: www.camerasandparts.com
Before having it fixed, press the DISP button first and make sure you just didn't turn the display off. If you end up needing service for the Canon, that place above is really great for these cameras.

Canon powershot SD1300 IS won't turn on, even with fully charged battery

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

The menu screen is on and we can not take pictures, we can not get out of that setting

Hi, If it won't let you quit out of the menu screen I'd suggest turning the camera off then on, if that doesn't work take the battery out for a couple of minute and that should do the trick.

Brand-new Canon Powershot SX120 IS and have put in the batteries and card included in the pack. All seems to be working normally - EXCEPT the screen is continually dark and not showing anything the camera...

I am not sure if this advice will work for your model, but it does work for other Canon models.

There is a DISP button on the back. When you push it in, it will turn off the LCD display. Hit it again, and it will keep the display off but show the on-screen icons. Push it again, and the LCD will turn back on. I may be wrong about the order it cycles, but it will cycle through the various modes.

Good luck.

LCD Dispaly malfunction

The screen has two components. The LCD, and the backlight. You can buy broken cameras relatively cheaply on ebay (or if you have it, craigslist). Do that, and you might be able to replace the screen.
