There are a variety of ways to accomplish this, but the two most common ways are:
Purchase a BEHRINGER USB interface -- like a U-CONTROL UCA222. This will allow you to use the USB port for your sound In/Out. This will also require RCA cables to connect from mixer to UCA222 unit.
Or...purchase a dedicated sound card (preferred) like an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 that can be installed in your computer (not for laptop). You will also need I/O RCA cables to connect.
hello. Im not too familiar with Protools (mainly because its a headache right out of the box), but MY understanding is that Protools won't recognize a lot of external audio devices. (such as behringer)
however..if you are able to record and 'see' the audio there, just not hear it, there might still be a solution, & seeing as how i never used protools, it still might just work.
First of all:
if you're using the UCA-200 external usb box connected with rca cables, then my solution SHOULD work, as it is what i did to get mine to finally do the same thing.
#1) you will need to pick up (x2) RCA-1/4 jack adapters . (radioshack, about $2 each)
#2) insert a red and white rca cable in the RIGHT side of the Mixer's CD/Tape out .....the other end of the rca cables will go into the UCA-200 INPUT.
#3) with 2 more cables in the OUTPUTs of the UCA-200, put the rca-1/4 jack adapters on both cables, insert them back into the Mixer inputs 9/10 (in the analog 1/4 instrument inputs)
#4) adjust volumes accordingly, make sure channel 9/10 isn't muted, headphone volume is up, etc..
.......if that didn't do the trick, then you will need to go into the Audio Settings menu on your computer..(or protools) and change the default playback device to your mixer (probably named Generic USB or something similar)
I really hope this helps somewhat, because i remember going through the same thing & it took a looong time to find the correct awnser.
best of luck!
*also*
check for any updated drivers for your mixer! (I personally recommend you do a Google search for Asio4all drivers, they're pretty good)
if your awnser is A), i would suggest going into your computer's Audio Settings menu, and select the mixer as your default playback device.
There are several possible solutions for this. The cheapest and easiest is to do the following: Solution 1: 1. Get an RCA stereo plug to 3.5 mm plug. This will go from your mixer to your computer. This will not be the highest quality, but will work. 2. Get an XLR cable of the length you need. I would guess a standard one with a male connection on one end and a female on the other. Connect this to your powered speaker. Also, this is a guess as you didn't include the type of powered speaker, so I can't tell you for sure which cable to use. Solution 2: 1. An alternate idea for better sound quality would be to run a D/A converter similar to this one: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/USBMix/It would give you a much higher sound quality for everything. You would run from your Gemini to this. From this device, you would run a USB cable to your computer, and a 1/4" cable to your powered speaker.
typically (unless your useing other gear besides mixer and amp) you'd come out of the L/R outs. ( Main outs ) to the Main inputs of the power amp then out to your speakers (outs of power amp). Now the amp could be in bridge mono or other factors but typically, like i said, just Mixer Out- Amp In- Amp Out- Speakers.
Don't even think of using a universal adapter !!! I could not find the schematic of this unit, but other Gemini mixers like this use center tapped AC power transformers. Any universal adapter will be DC, not AC. I have found that the FX7000 indeed uses an 18 VAC adapter... Try this as a source:
Yep! Get a decent audio interface that attaches to the PC with a USB connection and uses BALANCED lines to your mixer. I use a UA-25EX Roland/cakewalk as an example. (about $200 and there are cheaper units such as M-Audio Fast Track MKII ) Note these interfaces BOTH record and playback with two channels for stereo.
Essentially the audio board that is in PC's and Laptops are too near the switching noise of the processor and some of that is just bound to get into the audio lines as they don't even have balanced audio lines from the computers. Make sure you use either TRS or XLR balanced cables from whatever interface you get. Also connect ALL interconnected equipment to the same power source or receptacle. You can try to reduce the buzz with the mixer EQ's with what you have, but that sacrifices audio quality.
Here is alink to the manual:http://www.behringer.com/EN/downloads/pdf/DJX750_P0956_M_EN.pdf You should have no problems hooking them up (RCA to RCA). I've been using a Behringer XenyX1222FX board in my recording system for about 4 years now and have been quite satisfied with it's reliability. Try to find a dealer who will demo the mixer for you.
