Garmin nuvi 760 has died. power supply ok. swapped it into another vehicle we use again with no joy. turned it on this morning and worked. turned it off when i went into a shop, came back out and it did not turn on with ignition as usual. then noticed the wire to the external antenna was chopped by the bonnet hinge. could this be the reason it has stopped working altogether

I could not get a Nuvi on ebay for a reasonable price and I was still leary about switching the cable and having the same problem so I just listed mine on there and sold it. I changed from Garmin and bought a Navigon 5100. Once Garmin eliminates the flip top antenna I might consider buying one again but right now my Navigon seems to be a really good unit. Thank you for your help.

Go to tools-settings-language-voice and make sure it is set to "American English-Jack (TTS) or to American English-Jill (TTS)

Go back into your tools and settings and re select the voice of american jack and see if it comes back on.
I lost the voice 2 days ago while on a trip from tenn. to florida and this fixed it. we never shut off the voice but somehow while using bluetooth or FM trans it shut off voice transmiting.
