SOURCE: engine dies when clutch brake released on husqvarna gth2548

First check the seat switch, make sure it is plugged in tightly, these plugs have a safety tab built into them that will cut the engine off if you unhook it,sometimes the plug latch pulls out slightly and this will cut the engine, There are two other switches in the system one on the foot clutch and on on the mower clutch, if you follow the white wire from you ignition switch it will lead you to both of them, check those connections also.

SOURCE: Brake will not release on my Husqvarna riding mower

the brake caliper is rusted closed causing the pads to stay enguaged, dissasemble the brake caliper and remove the 2 pins and de-rust them with emory cloth. reinstall them with anti-seze and reasemble the brake caliper back onto the transmission should be good to go!

SOURCE: i have a husqvarna riding mower and when i turn it

It sounds like the seat switch is not working. This switch must be made by a person sitting in the seat for the brake to be released or for the blades to be engaged. It is possible to start the mower with the switch open.

The ignition switch takes the coil grounding wire to earth to cut the motor, so there is either a problem with the ignition switch or a break in the earth wire ( check the conections down by the engine ) to check the system run the machine with the deck engaged lift yourself out of the seat, if the engine stops it will be more than likly the ignition switch playing up, if it does not shut down there is a wiring issue.

I have a 42 inch poulan with hydrostatic the engine starts but when i release the brake the engine stops

Check your deck and blades for debris. Also, with engine off, take deck belt off one pulley so all move freely and spin blades one at a time. You should find out quickly wich one is locked up.

Why does my mower die when you release the park brake ?

Sounds like seat safety switch. To check switch use a piece of wire unplug seat switch under seat. stick wire in both sides of plug to complete circuit and try to use mower. If works replace switch.

Engine shuts down when petal is released

Sounds like your "dead man" switch is bad. Should be a switch under the seat that if you are not sitting on the seat will shut off the engine when you get off unless parking brake is set.

Typically pressing down on the brake peddle will release the brake. F the parking brake was engaged with excessive pressure it my be difficult to release. You may need to "stand on it" to release it.

I have a Husqvarna tractor. I recently have noticed that when cutting grass it wants to pull slower than normal. It does this sometimes when making a turn it will just stop, then take off at much slower...

1) Gear shift transmission or Hydrostatic?

2) check condition of the transmission drive belt, pedal tensioner spring, idler pulley bearings, engine stack pulley groove

3) if it is a hydro, check the above plus * make sure the brake caliper located on the transmission is fully releasing. It can drag, and overheat the transmission.

4) Tractors that have the battery under the seat: the battery leaks as it gets older, and the acid drips on the brake caliper and seezes the actuating pins and makes the brake drag.
