If you have the original install disks, you can reset the admin password by following the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1274

If you don't have the original installation disks, you can try the following (no guarantees):
http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-73393-change-mac-admin-password-without-the-disk

You can also simply Google something like "mac reset admin password without startup disc".

Good luck...

The only thing you can do is to reinstall the operating system from disk.

First, check to see if it is stolen at:
Stolen Apple Product Database If it is stolen, contact authorities.
If it is not stolen and you have the OS X Install Disk that corresponds to the version of OS X that you have:
1. Start up off the DVD
2. Choose your language and press Continue once to get into the "Installer"
3. Under Utilties choose Reset Password
4. Reset the password and then restart the computer.
If you don't have a system disk, you need to create a new Admin account:
Enter terminal and create a new admin account: 1. Reboot
2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime.
(command + s keys on newer Macs)
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):

mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now

4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and your good to go again!

How to reset the name and password on my mac book

You are trying to do something that has been disallowed by the administrator,
To do so you have to have the Admin acces (Admin Password)

As you stated this has been used by someone else earlier, so you have to contact him.

If you cant do that, there is also one more solution. to remove the admin password.

To do so, THE BEST OF ALL is to download the Hirens boot CD, (This is the ultimate tools collection for you PC, and FREE)

Download here, and burn it on a CD, boot from it and goto the Password recovery menu. There are lot of tools in it.

If you don't want to go throught this long process (which i will not recommend, its very usefull CD)

Even though, the tool that this CD uses, and i'v also tested it can be downloaded here.
Its call NTPWD.

Just burn it on CD, or copy in the USB (Boot from CD or USB)

run ntpwd.exe ( it will ask you which account to remove the password ).
Kinda its done, if properly follwed the steps.

The reason that the date is set to 1970 is probably that the pram battery needs charging or replacing.
