I am taking my juicer apart. I took the three screws out and the grinder plate. How do I get the filter out that is beneath the grinder plate.

Don't take the screws out! That plate is not meant to come off.

The filter unit is removed from the base by unscrewing it counterclockwise using the two holes in the plate that you unscrewed. The juicer originally came with a plastic tool with two prongs that fit in the holes and acted like a sort of handle you could use to unscrew the assembly.

If you don't have the tool, you can use two small screw drivers or jury-rig a tool out of a piece of coat hanger shaped into a U to gain leverage to dismount the entire filter/blade assembly for washing.

Hope this helps!

How does it come apart for cleaning

The hot water did work for mine. Here is the solution I discovered:

After removing the food plunger and juicer cover: (1) Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the cutting blade plate in the center of the basket and lift off the cutting blade plate; (2) Unscrew the base counterclockwise (it will unscrew from the threaded center piece) and lift it up; (3) Lift off the basket and juice bowl. Now you can clean the basket and juice bowl.

To reassemble, reverse the process.

Taking the Jack Lalane power juicer apart

Maybe its the orange tool you're talking about. The tool has two ends. It fits in the blade. The blade has 2 holes. Fit it in the 2 holes and turn it to screw the blade out. Careful not to cut your hands.

Unable to take juiceman apart to clean

Generally you will have good luck with this item - however after using it for a while here is the problem people are stating in other reviews. You cannot get the basket our for cleaning. Unfortunately there are no instructions or troubleshooting or anything on the manufacturer's website for fixing this..

Here's the problem...There are 3 little captured balls on the basket that engage into holes into the juicer to hold it into place when you load it. The problem is that over time - the balls get juice in them. Then you store the thing with the basket locked into the juicer. Then from sitting in your cupboard - the juice dries and the balls are stuck. When they get very sticky they do not float in their cavity they are stuck. Then after you juice the next time - you cannot get basket off. basket is stuck and you will destroy the juicer if you try to pry it out with excessive force.
If you have this problem and you are lucky enough to be reading this - I have figured out the fix on my own...

You need to fill up a large tupperware, rubbermaid, whatever - bowl about 3 inches deep with hot water. Then take the juicer with the clear cover off and flip it upside down and into the hot water. Make sure the water is covering the entire basket area, but not so deep it goes into the motor area. I let it soak for about 3 hours, but I don't think you will need to do it for that long. When I took it out of the water I was able to pry the basket out with very little force. This is when I discovered this flawed design with the balls.

I used it probably for a year or so about 40 or 50 times without this issue, but let it sit for about 4 months - which is why I believe it caused these balls with juice in them to get so frozen I couldn't remove it.

Good luck. It worked for me.. this should work for you!

I seem to be able to put the crescent too in but the blade just spins and doesn't seem to be connecting to anything to pull it out. Talk about frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Juicer does not work.

Had same problem...juicer stop working without any warning. First I took the unit apart and remove the on-off switch and capacitor and had them tested by appliance shop. Both checked good. Next I remove the small circuit board behind the face plate below the motor shaft; circuit board was coated with oil and shaft grease. Appliance shop did not know how to test it, so I clean it all up and reassemble the unit. I told God is it worked I would praise Him. Hallelujah to God ... it worked. I hope my experience helps someone. God is good.

How to dissassemble Jack Lalanne Power Juicer?

After about a half hour I finally figured it out. I'll go through all the steps.

1. Remove pusher from chute.
2. Pull the locking bar down over the spout.
3. Remove lid.
4. This part is tricky. Stick the orange crescent tool into the blade holes and while holding the filter basket steady with one hand, turn the blade couterclockwise while pulling up.You do have put a little muscle into it. And remember, if you don't hold the filter steady, the whole damn thing just spins.
5. Remove the receptacle.

Good juicer, but it seems unnecessarily complicated.

How to clean juicer

i had the same problem and figured out an easy way to open it without the tool. DO NOT take out the screws. I simply used chop sticks. I put one in each small hole and held the chop sticks in an X and turned the top counterclockwise!
