I currently have a belkin wireless g MIMO and want to replace with N1 vision. Will all the set up be lost (password) when I switch to N1 vision. Can I just plug the new one and ready to go? Thanks

Yes, all the setting and password, WEP encryption password, etc WILL BE LOST. Well they are not actually lost, they remain on the old router until you delete them or reset the router to the factory default.
I think what you are really looking for is will the setting and passwords transfer automatically(NO)
So you need to write down the old setting and password if you want to keep them and put them into the new router during set-up.
Unless you are going to personally keep the old router, for security, reset it to clear out the passwords. The reset procedures is the same for both routers
Just in case you do not have the new owners manual here is the direct link to Belkins.

Hello,

The short answer is YES, your settings and password will be gone.

If you haven't done any custom setting changes on the MIMO router then you probably won't need to do much configuring on the new N1 router besides the initial setup.

I hope this helps in your decision.

Best of luck!!

I assume you are referring to the wifi password.
The wifi password and any other settings are stored on the router itself. If you replace your router, the settings will be lost.

My internet is greatly reduced with Belkin N1 vision wireless (before the hook-up it was 15mbps now only 5mbps), I have tested by hooking directly from the modem to the computer and got 15mbps. Before N1,...

When you only get 5 mbps are you connecting to the new router wirelessly or via the ethernet cable? If it is wirelessly then try connecting with an ethernet cable and see if you still get 5 mbps. If so then try resetting the router (the procedures for this will be explained in the manual) and re-test. Wireless connections can slow down due to obstacles such as thick walls or other obstacles of that type. If all else fails return the unit and try another.

Belkin wireless g mimo router. i never set a

When changing the advanced settings on the Belkin router, you should change the default password.

To change the password, go to Administrator Password. Type in a new password. Make sure you remember the password, otherwise, you will need to reset the router back to default settings.

I hope this helps.

I have a N1 belkin wireless router and have lost the disc. is there a way to install and configure a network without it?

First RESET your router to defaults.
for that press RESET button for 10 seconds RESET button is in back side of router.
Then connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then you can access it with following link.
http://192.168.15.1

type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Set WAN settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP .
CLick on wireless and enable wi fi.
If you want secure router then enable WEP security then add new code it is your password key for connect wi fi.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Lost password

You can use the "RESET" option on the router itself by holding down for at least 10 seconds, or try the default password which is blank / nothing entered.
You will have to reset your settings if you use the "RESET" options

If you have lost the manual then you can get it here

Lost password into router need reset

Use the reset button near where the AC adapter plugs in. Hold it in for at least ten seconds. This should set it back to factory, allowing you to set another password.
