Bought a nikon coolpix s51 digital camera in november 07 and for the last three months everytime I go to use it it tells me to format the memory card which has been formatted numerous times. went to purchase new memory card and sales associate told me that it was the camera not working properly and replacing the memory card would not fix the problem. Bought a two year extended warranty for the camera and printing dock.
Hey jackie jean,
If the two year extended warranty you are talking about is a performance service plan purchased at a Best Buy™ store then you could bring the camera into a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store, and they should be able to send it out for service at no charge to you. I am assuming you formatted the memory card in the camera, but if this is not the case and you have formatted the memory card using your computer then I would suggest formatting the memory card in the camera. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Allan

When I turn the camera on it goes to Date/Time set up. I set the Date/Time and then I can't get it to do anything else.
Thanks Dora
i have the same problem with the camera telling me to format the card. I have an EXTREME III 2GB SanDisk card and it's supposed to be super fast so that I can take more pictures in a shorter time frame. The first 6 moths with the camera that was definitely the case then one day the camera tells me FORMAT the card. I've tried formatting the card via the camera numerous times nothing works. So i have a SD slot on my PC and figured maybe formatting the card via PC would help. NO such luck. Each pic takes like 45 seconds to a minute to process before i can even take another pic. And after every pic it tells me to FORMAT the Card. I'm ready to throw this camera out the windor after only a YEAR.
