I lost the cord that goes from the printer to the computer. Would like to know where i can pay one. and can you use this printer wiyh a laptop.

Sounds like your DC Power Jack where the Power Cord plugs into the computer is bad.

Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

If the DC Power Jack is bad, then eventually the battery is going to die and you won't be able to boot your laptop. If the dc power jack is bad, the ac adapter power cord can't charge the battery.

I hope this installation/setup guide will help you [Click Here]. If I am right, you don't need a phone cord to connect the printer and the computer, but a USB cable. If it's in case of Fax, you would need the phone cord to connect the line to the printer/fax machine.

It is a standard printer/pc cord. Kinda looks like a D shape with the 3 terminals in it. Trust me here if you have one of these cords and it fits into the HP's power port then it is fine.

Is is just a power cord - they have tons of them at Goodwill, Savers.....I even pick up USB printer cables for $2 (instead pay $25 at Best Buy)
If the cord contains a transformer (black box) - then you will probably have to order one online (for the best deal).

Printers do not normally come with the USB. The good news is you can buy this cord just about anywhere. You should know, there is a special USB cord for printers - one end is smaller than the other end - the smaller end goes into the printer.

you can try looking at thrift stores, usually they have a "cord wall" or cord bin, that lexmark I believe has the power supply that kind of fits into the back of the printer so it should be easy to spot, but when you look at the power suppliy make sure it says lexmark on it before you buy it,
