I have a aws45nw model speed queen washer that is two year old and I'm have problems with the spin cycle starting. When the washer get the rainse cycle on all loads, the motor will hum continuely and get hot and smokes. Can you advise me where the problem maybe. I would call whoever repaired the washer back out and have them diagnose.

Hi, just fixed the daughters speed queen, same problem. The three brake shoes were worn allowing the tub to spin with the agitator.
replaced the shoes, washer fine. At first I thought it was the top ring. spent 30 dollars for nothing.

the belt broke and it was replaced with a similiar belt. old belt was 28 3/4 in and the new one is 29 in. when it ran, the motor smelled. I thought it was just from the oringinal belt braking. Now when the spin cycle starts, the motor snaps and stops. in about three min it resets and will start just to stop again. The motor smells hot. The belt appears to be installed correctly routed around the ideler pully.
