Hello, out display shows F3 and the machine stops. Please advice.

F3 means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

With your full model number as shown on the tag inside the cooking cavity, I can help you toward the solution, which is to replace either the keypad or the control panel frame assembly, assuming there is no moisture, grease, or other deposit on the circuit board, especially in the area where the keypad plugs in.

Feel feel free to follow up here or contact me directly.

Hi,

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

Part number WB07X10959 this part can run over 100 bucks. If you shop around you could get a good price.

Good Luck

HOTPOINT COUNTERSAVER PLUS RVM 1435 DISPLAY READS F3

"F3" on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

On RVM1435-series microwaves, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (RVM1435XX###) from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

F3 Message on microwave

Hello

GE microwaves with a digital display will show an error code when there is a problem or malfunction with the unit. One type of error code that will be displayed on a GE oven and require troubleshooting is a code F3. An F3 error code indicates that the keypad for the control panel is bad or has a short. This will cause the microwave to beep continuously after the set clock message appears.

Unplug the power cord for the microwave from the electrical outlet. Pull the microwave out from the wall and set it on a table or the counter.

Find and remove the two screws from the top of the grille, on the font of the unit, with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the grille off of the microwave.

Find and remove the screws that are used to secure the control panel to the microwave frame. Lift the control panel unit up and away from the microwave.

Find and remove the screw that is used to secure the green ground wire. Pull out all of the connectors and ribbon cables from the control board.

Apply heat from a hair dryer to the front of the control board for at least 30 seconds. Make sure the hair dryer is at the low setting. Pull up on one corner of the top membrane, then peel it off of the control board.

Repeat Step 5 for the other membrane that is on the control board.

Insert the pliable circuit of the new membrane through the opening in the control board. Remove the wax backing to expose the adhesive for the membrane. Place the membrane onto the control board.

Peel the wax backing off of the top membrane, then place it on the control board.

Place the control board back on the microwave and secure it with the screwdriver. Reattach the grille, and set the microwave back in place.

Plug the microwave back into the power outlet and reset the clock.

Replaced key panel for F3 fault, still not working

This answer assumes that the new keypad is the right one and that it is plugged in correctly.

F3 is normally a bad keypad, but it may be debris or residue on the circuit board in the area that the keypad plugs into, or there may be some corrosion on the connections of the keypad connector.

Look for whitish or dark green deposits on the circuit board. These may be mineral deposits or tarnished copper due to moisture.

These are most common if one cooks on the stove top without turning on the hood vent exhaust fan.

Feel free to post a good close up photo or two of any area you suspect.
