There is usually a set of pins on the corner that are labeled get a magnify glass and light up the board take the glass and look down on one of the corners it is usually on the right corner of the bottom of the board at the bottom of the desktop case. You will usually see a series of abbreviations. LED, HDD, PWR, RES or RE the pins are marked. Now on the wires to the power button you will see the same wire abbreviations. Just hook up the HDD wire to the HDD pin the PWR to the PWR button wire and so on. RESET wire is RE or RES etc. Those really are the only three you will need. Not sure of the exact abbreviations. But they are lettered enough for you to match them. The best thing to do is try to download the board specs and get a look at the pins one side is neg and the other is positive it would be to your best interest to find the mother board specs for you mother board since you went all over the internet and could not find the board specs. just match the LED and the others they are marked PWR is the main and HDD is just showing when the HDD is working. The reset is for the button to reset the computer. It is basic and not that complicated really. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Remove hard drive from hp pavilion 790

Dear Anonymous,
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00225826.pdf pages 11->19 show detailed instructions on removing/replacing the HDD on this model computer. N.B.: Make sure the jumper link on the socket end of the new HDD is in the same/equivalent position as the old HDD. (If in doubt "C.S." or "Cable Select" is always a safe position.) Kind regards - 'b'ye, Bruce Gilbert.

Can u use an ide hard drive on a HP Pavilion Media Center a1510n Desktop PC

First you should check your motherboard. If there is IDE connector (maybe there is connected your CD/DVD-ROM) and free position on the cable(maser or slave) you can attach your HDD (check the jumper position. Maybe there are on the label of your HDD). The other solution is to buy a SATA TO IDE cable.

HP Pavilion m7330n: Possible corrupt bios, solutions anyone?

what OS? is this XP? with SP3 or not? needs it. if XP.
you never need to delete old hdd, drivers ever.
reg booster?
would not reboot. the HDD fails>?
its not really BIOS, corruption at all,
if the CMOS battery is above 2.9v then no corruptions happen.!
the ROM part will not corrupt but the ram part can , easy, Battery.
check this battery any time bios forgets things this battery is the
no forget feature (CMOS NVRAM battery backup)
Bios can boot to any dvd, or cd, if you plug it and and select it.
BIos can boot the HDD, or SSD, or USB stick. and more, F9 key?
never use reg booster, avoid it like the plague,
any reg modifying programs are nothing but trouble. !!!

m7330n circa 2005. a desk top (or media center) Athlon 64 X2
so what DVD are you installing,
Sata, or PATA
tell what you have and why you need and adaptor,(btw i have them all here, from you name it ,to what eva.)

the HDD is SATA.
but what is the DVD jacked into?
dvd drives come in;
PATA
SATA
USB
what is yours?

Cannot get my dvd cd rom to play dvds or cds tried everything apart from taking the tower off model #a1310n Prod# el448aa-aba

If you cannot hear the disk spinning when you put the cd or DVD in you may have a broken CD/DVD drive, easily and cheaply replaceable for under $20 at any store (Recommended: Best Buy). Try putting your Windows Disc into the drive to see if it is only a problem with playing Media, or if it is a problem with the drive itself and go from there. Good luck!

What drive is the dvd rom inserted. i'm trying to download turbo tax

The DVD-ROM drive is the same thing as the CD drive or optical drive, generally. It is near the top of the tower.

Download refers to getting something off the internet - if you have a DVD, you are trying to install it.

Cd/dvd rom

It may be really dirty or just to old or has had laser failure.

There cheap these days, and CD drive with DVD Rom reading ability are like $20 to $30 depending on speed and brand.

A DVD/CD RW writer reader are also getting cheaper, around $60 and up usually.

And some advice. Dont by HP Pavilions. I've worked on alot and i find they have outdated parts cuz there remanufactured from older computers and you have a hard time upgrading due to hard to find drivers
Not finding what you are looking for?
