Below are instructions to adjust brightness on HP laptop
Press the "Fn" key with the computer turned on and hold the key.
Press the "F7" or "F8" key on some HP laptops, which are
printed with a small sun icon on the key. The sun icon is filled on the
function key for dimming the laptop. The other key is printed with a
hollow sun icon for brightening the screen.
Press the "Fn" and left arrow keys together on some HP
laptops to turn down the brightness. The "Fn" and right arrow key will
increase brightness. Press and release the right arrow key repeatedly,
while holding down "Fn," to decrease the screen brightness slowly, or
hold the keys to darken the screen as low as the setting will go.
For HP Monitors
Press and hold the down arrow key on the front panel of the
monitor below the screen to turn down the brightness on the external
monitor to the lowest setting.
Repeatedly press the down arrow button to dim the monitor gradually.
Press the up arrow key on the monitor to increase brightness.
Press and hold the blue 'fn' key and press and release the left/right arrow keys to dim/brighten the screen. It it the arrow keys on most Acer laptops that control this. If it's not the arrow keys, then look for keys with a picture of the sun on them. Press and hold the 'fn' key and then tap the 'sun' keys to adjust brightness. Please let me know if this helps or not.
Then brighten it. You brighten it by Holding Down either FN, CTRL or DEL key + Hit the corresponding key for brightening the display. For example on my computer I press and hold the FN Function key while I hit the UP Arrow key to brighten the screen.
The brighten/darken keys normally have the icon of a circle with sprockets around it like the sun or it looks like a washer that goes between a screw.
It may be the backlighting has been readjusted by someone other
yourself. Whenever you go on battery, I'm sure you've seen the screen
darken a bit. This is the backlighting being turned down to save
battery life. There is usually a blue function "fn" key that allows the
user to brighten or darken the display. Look at the blue icons in the
F1-F12 keys. The one to brighten the display looks light a sun and the
one to darken the display looks a full moon eclipsed. Press and hold
the fn key and tap the desired function key to brighten or darken the
display.
Examine the keyboard. There should be a symbol on most of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.). Look for one that looks like a sun or lightbulb, either with an arrow pointing up or with the sun/lighbulb filled in. Hold the 'Fn' key, and tap the up/bright sun/lightbulb key a few times. The screen should increase in brightness.
If you cannot find the specified keys, you may be able to adjust brightness from inside Windows. Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and open 'power options'. Look for a sun and moon with a sliding bar between them. You might also be able to adjust brightness by customizing your desktop (right click on the desktop and look for the proper menu).
Look on your keyboard on the "f" keys (f1, f2, etc...) for a symbol that looks like a sun or shining light. Something that would indicate brightness. Now, hold down the 'fn' (function) key on the bottom left of your keyboard and then press the backlight key you just found.
I have an Acer lap top and there is an Fn (function key) Icon on the <i and the i> keys that mimic a sun device. If you hold down the Fn key and tap the I> key down over on the right sideof the machine, then those taps should brighten the screen. Holding down the Fn key (left side) and tapping the <i key will dim the screen.
To brighten the screen of your lattitude laptop you can press Fn key and up arrow key and to decrease the brightness you can press Fn and down arrow key.
Hold down the FN key whilst pressing one of the F1-F10 keys usualy a symbol with a sun and an arrow pointing up for increasing brightness and sun and arrow down for decreasing brightness but remember to hold down the FN key (usualy botton left of keyboard in blue)
