I need help with disassembly of Vizio GV42L LCD TV

Hi, I am swapping a smashed LCD with another one I bought locally as a non-working tv with a good LCD. I have removed all the screws but I can't seem to take the back panel off to get inside the TV! Any help or tips on how to remove the back off of a Vizio GV42L LCD TV?

Thanks!

I have a vizio e260mv, I'm 95% positive that the tv has a bad video board and I need to test it with a multimeter to make sure before I buy a replacement, I however cannot seem to remove the rear plastic cover (even after unclipping the bevel from the rear plate) it seems something near the bottom and rear middle of the tv is still holding it together, any suggestions as to what that may be, and I know there arent any screws as there aren't any on the exterior of the case (and yes I checked under the stickers as well) *also if possible, a link to a video showing disassembly would be helpful or better yet a service manual... thank you ahead of time

Remove all the screws and start at the bottom and push in the tabs, and work around the edges, being careful not to pry too hard, the cover has clips all around the tv. after the bottom is free and one of the corners the cover will kind of pop off if you use the palm of your hand and lightly tap as you apply sum upward pressure.

You may have missed a screw hidden underneith a sticker or pad. Usually this is done so that you void your warranty if you open it up yourself.

However, the tv casing has clips that slip inside the frame of the TV and engage when the back is put on during assembly at the factory. It is not designed to be removed again by consumers.

My tv wont work

No picture/no sound condition could be caused by either a faulty power supply or main board. Proper electronic troubleshooting will need to be done to verify. If the set is under any kind of warranty, return it ASAP

Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD

May be a bad power supply, which is a common problem with these units.I have a GV42L 42" manufactured in march 2007. It works perfect except the screen has a fracture on it. The warranty is voided because we damaged the screen. I can sell this to somone who has a good screen but needs boards or speakers, etc. Or I will buy your tv that has a good screen but damaged boards in it.

GV42L

I had this same problem. Vizio sent someone out to replace the motherboard. It didn't fix the problem. Since it was under warranty, they replaced it with a newer model VU42L. Doesn't have this problem, but it has others.

Broken Screen

Man I feel for you..

You can have them repaired using a TV Repair guy but often it costs as much as a brand new tv. My daughter broke my $1,600 LCD. It would have cost $1,200 to fix.. so I just bought a new one. After that I picked up a TV screen protector called TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com Its designed to protect the TV from damage. Now I dont have to worry anymore when she is playing near it. It works really well.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
