There is no way to hack into the router to get the password. What you will have to do is reset the router back to factory default. Once you have done this you can then use the default password, which is User name admin and leaving the password field blank.
The rest button is located in a small hole on the back of your unit. Leave the router's power on, and using something like a paper clip (don't use anything with a sharp end as you may damage the router), push in and hold down the button for 10 seconds. The router will reboot and after about 30 seconds, you should be able to access it again. The one drawback about this is that you will wipe out any configuration data that you have entered into the router. Once the router finishes rebooting, it will be in the same state as it was when you first took it out of the box.
You might want to place a small piece of tape on the bottom of the unit with your password written on it. That way you can always check it if you ever have this problem again. What you can also do is back up your configuration information You can do this by going to your TOOLS menu, and then choose SYSTEM on the left hand side. Under SYSTEM SETTINGS you will see SAVE SETTINGS TO LOCAL HARD DRIVE with a SAVE button to the left. Clicking on SAVE will allow you to backup your entire configuration file to a safe place on your hard drive. I would give it a name that includes the date so that you know how old the file is. I would also make a habit of backing up that file at least once every month.
In case you don't have a copy of your manual you can go to the following website to download a copy:
http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-2310&rev=WBR-2310
Click on Support Resources, and then choose product manual. The file will be in the Adobe Free Reader pdf format. If you do not have the reader handy you can go to the following website:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Click on the DOWNLOAD button and save the file to a handy location. Double-click it and it will then install itself. Then you can click on the manual file and it will automatically load the reader and display itself.
These steps should allow you to resolve your issue. If you do have further problems please don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue.
Try connecting to the router via ethernet. Open your browser and type 192.168.1.254 and see if that brings up your router page. There you should be able to modify the wireless network key/password.
Hi,
unfortunatly you cannot retrieve a forgotten password. Instead what you can do is reset the Router to factory settings by holding down the Reset button for 10 seconds. Setting up again should not be a problem since your router is just a range booster!
I hope this helped!
There is really no way to get a forgotten password. If the password you forgot was for the actual wifi access, then you can directly connect a computer to the router and log into it adn change the wifi password. If the password you forgot was for access to the actual router to change settings, then you will need to press and hold the reset button on the back or bottom of the router while you unplug and plug the router back in. This will reset the router back to factory default.
