When making copies, only a part of the document prints; the rest is solid black.

Solid black in a copy typically means that the scanner is partially blocked. Open the top, where you'd place a sheet to be copied, and examine the small strip that runs down the side (left, most likely). See if it's clear, or if something is covering part of it.
Most copiers don't use the full size scanning plate for copies, but use a strip that scans the paper as it moves across it. If something blocks part of it, you get the black area.

Trying to copy checks I am getting solid black page

as the check is scanned the optics are reading a security code imbedded in the paper that prevents the check from being copied it will probably do the same if you try to copy paper money.

Hp inkjet printing solid black page

Hi Robert, if you're trying to copy something that you've placed on the glass without closing the cover of the copier, there's too much back light (coming from behind the item to be copied) and therefore the resulting page will be black. The only light should come from within the copier itself.
If the item you're copying is bulky and will not allow the cover to close, try taking an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper and cutting out only enough of the page to allow your item (to be copied) to sit flat on the glass while covering the remaining exposed glass with the paper.
I hope this helps, good luck.

I have a Risograph rz220 that jams every time i run paper thru it. the paper feeds then flutters the fees on thru but jam light comes on each time and have to re-start it.

There is likely a piece of paper on the roller or gear that is still in there causing a jam. I would dismantle as much as possible to find the jam.

Every time I fax or copy a perfect sheet of paper both the fax received and the copy have a 2 inch wide solid black line on the right. How do I fix the machine?

Have you tried replacing the ribbon cartridge? If that doesn't resolve the problem, then there is a fault with the thermal imaging head. You did say both Recieved faxes and copies, correct? If faxes you send out are clear, then the above mentioned would be correct. Let me know, please.

Scanning problem

Hi,

the black solid line that you were saying, is that vertical or horizontal? But anyways, i just want you to follow these steps...
Step one: Reset the printer
  1. Unplug the all-in-one USB cable from the computer.
  2. Verify the computer and the all-in-one have a three-prong power cord that connects to the power outlet.
  3. Unplug the all-in-one power cord from any power strips or surge protectors, and plug it directly into a wall outlet.
  4. Make a copy or scan, and see if the issue is resolved. If not, proceed to the next step.
Step two: Clean the glass and scanner backing
  1. Turn off the all-in-one.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the back of the all-in-one.
  4. Raise the lid.
  5. Clean the glass with a soft dry cloth, or a sponge slightly moistened with non-abrasive glass cleaner or water.
  6. Dry the glass with a chamois, cellulose sponge or soft cotton cloth to prevent spotting.
  7. Clean the white scanner backing with a soft dry cloth or sponge slightly moistened with water, and allow it to dry.

Step three: Try a blank copy
  1. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  2. Plug the power cord into the all-in-one.
  3. Turn the power on.
  4. Close the lid; do not place any paper on the glass.
  5. Load paper in the paper tray.
  6. Do either of the following:
    • Press Start Copy Black to start a black-and-white copy job.
    • Press Start Copy Color to start a color copy job.
  7. Please let me know if the steps didnt resolve your issue.

Thank you so much...
