Hi, Our Sony Bravia TV model number KDF E50A11E is not working. There is a red blinking light flashes three times and then goes green and then red blinking again after about 3 seconds. Is this a bulb issue or something more serious. Bulb last replaced 4 years ago.

Try replacing thermal protector.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

3 blinks is indicating the lamp has burned out. Aftermarket lamps tend to fail quickly. Only use oem replacement lamps for your sony. You can get replacement lamps from www.tvrepairworld.com

it could be a cooling fan or power supply problem or a switch on the saftey inter;lock on the lamp door
it will require some trouble shooting if your having problems finding some one in your area contact sony for a referal to a servicer in your area

How many hours are on the set? It sounds like the lamp is going bad, and won't let the power supply turn it on... Give that a try first and we will go from there. Good luck HDTV GURU JAY

You just count the number of blinks of the standby light before it goes out to green. In sony sets this blinking count ic critical for us to locate the faulty stage. You just count it after switch it Off by Power switch and Switch it On by the power switch at the front of the TV, for at least three or four times, and make sure abut the number of blinks, and report it to me. Ok

5 times Red LED blinks means Lamp Driver Error. (KDF-55WF655)
2 possible reasons, either Lamp is gone or Ballast Supply got bad.
Replace lamp first, in most cases it solved the problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently?

Please recheck Lamp Cover and make sure it is fixed in its space securely as 3 times red blink shows lamp cover error.
There is small safety switch in TV cabinet under lamp cover that has to be pushed by lamp cover if it is fixed in its position properly. That switch is not being pressed by lamp cover and causing this error.
