Have Windows XP and Lifechat LX-1000 headset with traditional audio plugs. Can't seem to find the driver (and no advise came with the product!). Only obvious microsoft download was Windows7 and LX-3000. Your suggestion?

If you go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, you'll likely see the device listed in there. It either has a broken driver, or wrong driver. I would recommend you find a device that's not working properly or has missing driver (it would have a yellow mark in front of the name) and delete it. Then click at the top to refresh the list/search for new hardware, for it to install new driver. You may also try to open the properties of that incorrectly installed device and click on Reinstall, then point to driver that came with the headset. But given this is Microsoft product, it be capable of downloading the driver from Windows Update. The point is that's already installed but either with incorrect driver or no driver. That usually happens when you plug it in before installing driver. So you need to remove driver and reinstall it.

Another thing you can try if after installing doesn't work is use a different USB port. But that will use the same driver already installed for that device, so just doing this alone won't help in your case.

Did you check if the music is audible when it is plugged.

You will need to change your default audio output device to be the USB headset. You can do this under Sounds and Audio Devices in the control panel. Change it from your regular sound card to the USB headphones. They should be on a drop down list.

how do i connect the Microsoft LX-3000 Lifechat headphone to x box 360, i plugged the usb into the front of the x-box and its not working , i,ve got no drivers, but i can down load them , but what do i do with the drivers then?

Its another one of those microsoft product that does't work and they dont care. I bought two one for my daughter and one for me I can't get either to work.....thanks at lot Mr Gates. Your a thief not more nothing less
