My Amana Radarange over the stove microwave started to omit a "burnt rubber" smell and stopped defrosting or heating anything all of a sudden. Model #MVH15W. Still works otherwise, lights on and turntable turns etc. What could it be?

You're describing a common smell that goes along with a magnetron tube that has failed. The magnetron tube makes the microwaves, and will eventually fail if you keep a microwave long enough. They can fail in a couple of different ways, and one is to short out accompanied by that burning smell. It's probably not worth trying to repair your oven because of its age. I don't believe the magnetron is available any longer. If it is, it will be costly, and replacing the tube is best left to a professional because of safety concerns. Your most economical choice would be to replace the oven.

Amana Radarange Model ACM 1580AW makes a noise, won't heat electrical burning smell coming from microwave.

It may be a failed high voltage diode, high voltage transformer, or magnetron, or just a bad relay on the control board.

If you could take a video with sound and send it to me, I may be able to diagnose it by the noise, then give you detailed help on repair.

Microwave buzzes and runs automatically

It sounds like it's time to get a new one. They have some that are relatively inexpensive these days. I usually check out http://bestmicrowavereview.com before purchasing any microwave.

Stopped heating

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts, then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.
