Panasonic sa-ht700 When turned on whether watching a movie or just cable tv, the unit will emit a loud pop then a loud piercing noise. The only way to stop the noise is by turning it off. I then turn it back on and it will only work properly for 15 to 20 minutes before the same happens again.

I have the same problem and you're right there seems to be no bass playing either. The entire sound has changed on the unit. So if anyone knows anything about it, let us know.

we have been having the same problem for about a year.  It will happen even if the tv & cable box is off.  If you leave the power on to the receiver, it can start making the noise anytime. HELP!!

I Have this same problem with my SA-HT700 and it will do this after just being turned on.So, NO leaving it on for a long time is NOT the problem!!!! It is so loud that it is deafening. I also took the cover off to find NO DUST! I think there is diffidently something else wrong here.

Somewhat the same issue. Only when watching DVD's..1/2 to 3/4's of the way thru a movie it loses video and we get loud resonant "humm or buzz" from Sub.

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2009

Exact same problem. Some times it works for two days after turning it back on, sometimes it works for two minutes before the high pitched hum comes on.

  • sharpiejeff May 12, 2009

I have the same problem.  It makes a crack/pop noise and the goes into a high-pitch deafening noise until it is powered off.  But then seems to be fine for a while after turning it back on.  Does anyone know anything specific that could make this happen.  How did the fan thing work out?

Usually problems that start "out of the blue" after being powered-up for hours, caused by heat building up are due to things inside getting hotter and hotter until they fail. Unless something actually burns up, this is a reversible problem. Shut it down to allow it to cool off, and it works again. I own a SA-HT700. After 24 hours or so of being powered-on. it starts making a loud rumbling noise. Turning it off for 20 minutes fixes the problem. There's a fan on the back of the unit. It does not work. The heat sinks inside my unit are not covered with dust - suggesting the fan has never worked. I rigged an external DC supply to the 12V fan, so now the fan runs all the time. I am waiting to see if this fixes the problem.

I have a panasonic sa-ht 700 but it did not come with a power cord. it does not have a 120 plug in like normal

The SA-HT700 is the main unit for the SC-HT700 DVD Home Theater system. For this system, the sub-woofer (SA-WA340) has the AC power connection. The sub-woofer is connected to the main unit by a "System cable". The power cord and system cable are shown in the manual. You'll need the sub-woofer if you don't have one. Amazon has a used sub-woofer listed here: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-SB-WA340-Powered-Subwoofer-SA-HT700/dp/B076HB8HQP . However, I don't know the third-party vendor.

A replacement power cable for some regions is available at Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Polarized-Panasonic-SA-HT700-SA-HT80-SCHT1500/dp/B00VFHP9US . I found the system cable here: https://www.amazon.com/Matsushita-Panasonic-K1HA25HA0001-CABLE-65/dp/B001DPHPCC . See the manual for the correct part numbers: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/hometheater/om/sc-ht900_en_om.pdf . The accessories that come in the box are shown on page 3.

I hope this helps.

How can I hook my alternate DvD player to SA-HT700 subwoofer without a cable ?

Without a cable? You probably can't unless wireless DVD is out.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Panasonic-SA-HT700-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/312bh731/t/2/

If you want to use a wired DVD player, you would have to settle for just audio (analog stereo or optical digital) from it since this unit doesn't accept any video IN.

I get surround sound whenever i'm playing dvd's. But how do i hookup surround sound when just watching television? I have a 46 inch Sony Bravia LCD TV and a Panasonic SA-HT700 surround sound and HD...

just plug your satellite and dvd player in to your tv. and simply take an extra set of red, white, yellow wires and us use the red and white wires to connect fron your tv output to your surround sound system's input. now you should have surround sound for everything included local tv stations from your tv antenna

Panasonic SC-HT995W Home theatrer System

It's probably a ventilation fan that's making the noise. Locate it and see if you can clean out any dust or dirt in it.

Need Help

Sounds like you have a loose cable. Check that the connection is really in well. If the problem continues I would get a new set of cables, especially if you are using the ones that came with the receiver or dvd player.
