The dryer is heating up but takes forever to dry clothes

first things first, check the vent. if the unit isnt vented properly or vent hose isn't clear, it will take forever to dry. if the vent is clear, check the vent thermostat.

Takes forever to dry clothes new element still

Hello,
The problem is in the thermosta and not the element. The thermostat is bad and is cutting off the element before you are getting hot enough..

OR....

There is a problem with the vent being plugged... or the blower not working right...

Clothes aren't getting dry very fast

First, check your circuit breakers, turn them off and on...there are two linked together labeled 40 amperes or more. Next guess will be the thermostat or the heating coils. Use a multimeter to check these parts. A diagram is usually attached to the back of the unit. Oh, is the drum turning? Are your clothes reasonably damp dry when you put them in? Is the vent hose kinked when the unit is in place?
