White spots on color clothes

I've stopped putting bleach in my washer dispenser all together, for months now. I have run an empty load in the washing machine to clear any residual bleach that may be in there however I still get white spots on my color clothes. The spots will show up even if I haven't put any bleach in the washer! I use All detergent free and clear if that helps. It is frustrating to me in that I cannot figure out the cause of this. I wash my color clothes mostly on cold water/cold rinse to prevent shrinkage. This whirlpool washer is a real stinker, I'll never buy another, it twists all my delicates to the point of stretching them even on gentle cycle.

if any one can help me understand why my clothes get ruined in this washer I would appreciate it, as it didn't happen with my I have had this Whirlpool washer for 5 years now and it has been doing this for quite awhile. I will gladly purchase a new top loader if it is the washer.

Thanks for the suggestion but I think I found the real problem. In speaking to someone locally in the Washing machine business, it was suggested that perhaps that the motor had broken, which would release a small bit of hydraulic fluid into the water with the wash clothes. The hydraulic fluid on the clothing would make the color clothes appear as though someone had put bleach into the wash load when I haven't used bleach in quite some time.

I had other symptoms that he picked up on, the spin cycle on delicates is too rough and the last wash I found some of my clothes have started tearing. Clothing that is less than one year old. since the machine is over 5 years old, I have decided to replace it.

When i use the bleach dispenser my clothes come out with huge white sbleach spots

If your bleach is going into the washer right away then your either filling it too full or your dispenser is cracked. When you put in your bleach you do not want to go above the do not fill line. If you do then the bleach will start siphoning into the machine.

Bleaching subsequent loads

I'm no repairman but here's a coupla thots:
1 - try running an empty load after bleaching. Save money and just use cold water. First add a few cups of water to the bleach dispenser to help flush out the old bleach that might remain, then run it.
2 - lemon juice is naturally acidic and should neutralize the bleach. You could add some to the bleach dispenser and do the above. Maybe mix a half-cup with a few cups of water and put in the dispenser, then run it. (Lemon juice [or vinegar] is good thing if you get bleach on your hands, too.)
OF COURSE -- Test to see if this works with a couple colored rags before running any good clothes through.
3 - How about using oxygen bleach alternatives (color-safe bleach) instead of regular bleach?
I suppose there could be a problem with your dispenser, idk....

Whirlpool bleach dispenser not dispensing properly

It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.

Bleach ruins colored load done after white load

Your bleach dispenser is the problem. It needs to be replaced. All of the bleach isn't leaving the dispenser so when you go to wash your colored clothing what's left in there comes out. Best thing to do till you fix it is wash your whites last. You can try running some white vinegar through the wash on the hottest cycle. Pour the vinegar into the bleach area and the soap area and run it on hot. Run it a couple of times. If there is anything clogging up the dispenser this might clean it out. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck.

Clean clothes that smell bad

Peace,
ngafm at your service!
You may have a small amount of water or lint lift in the machine somewhere that is not completely dumping out !
This is sometimes common on front loaders! Or the pump is weak!
I tell my customers to try running the washer without clothes once a week with hot water and a 1/4 cup of bleach!
. BUT the first load you do after this must be white in case there is a drop of bleach left in the system, that it does not spot bleach a white spot on your colored clothes!

If not this does not remedy the situation you will need hands on service!

Maytag Neptune Washer dispenser unit has mold and mildew inside top of dispenser compartment.

You can pour the bleach in the drawer every time you do white loads and it will stay clear too!
Just flush it out good before you do colored clothes or you may get a small bleach spot on a red shirt !

Bleach not always being emptied, bleach marks on clothes, bleach sometimes runs right out when you fill it.

The dispenser works on a siphon principal. If you over fill the cup it will start the siphon and empty before it should. If that's happening you're using way too much. You only need about a tablespoon of soap, softner and bleach for a full load.

Clothes picking up residual dyes & bleach spots

I dont think the washing machine is designed to put bleach in??
Remember a washing machine is never really empty of water.
It holds about 1 litre of water in the tub after each cycle.
Thats the way they are designed.
The same as front loader.
I would put clothing in the tub to bleach, then rinse them in the tub with cold water ,then wash them?? cheers

Liquid Bleach dispenser doesn't work correctly

This may not be relevant, but by design, bleach does NOT dispense in the Buly/Bedding, Kids Wear, and Silk/Ultra Delicate cycles. If you try to use it, it remains in the dispenser.

As for the yucky smell, leave the door open when not in use.
