You should probably follow the directions in the instruction manual, which do say how often to change it. If you wish to risk a moldy house or an unproductive filter you can use it longer than advised. I soak mine in 50% vineger 50% water for an hour to dissolve mineral deposits and kill fungus, so the wick doesn't become too clogged to operate. I believe this lets it last a few times longer, but it is a Honeywell model of filter and I don't know how that would work on your filter.
No, it's not normal not to feel or see any mist coming out. Depending on your home's water supply may have presented the problem. Especially if it's well water ... to many minerals. Which will clog the filter. Or your city water supply may be the same.
In any event, I would suggest buying and installing a new filter and using Bottled Distilled water instead. It's inexpensive ... about $1.00 per gallon.
If that doesn't solve your problem, return the unit under within the Warranty Period for replacement of repair.
There is a knob in the centre, which has positions O (Off), 1 (Low), 2 (High). To the left from the knob there is a yellow light, which is a signal to refill the watertank. The red light to the right from the knob is simply POWER On light.
The tank holds aprox. 0.9 gallons (3,35 L) of water. This should last about 8 hours.

I had the same problem. During the cleaning process, the white float was installed upside down and humidifier water level sensor was unable to read the float. I removed the phillips screw and inverted the float with the dark ring toward the bottm. Quick fix.
you can try local hardware stores like target, walmart, walgreens, ace hardware. places like that. if not you can always call holmes themselves to order through customer service.
I found that Home Depot had 9 left in the store and that they will not carry them any more so we bought the last 9 and hope they will last for a while and then may have to contact you again to find out where else to look. Thank You Dave Adamson
I have the evenflo cool mist humidifier, model # 758100. There should be a model number on the unit. As far as replacement filters, you can buy the Holmes humidifier filter, model # HWF62. It's compatible with Evenflo. I bought a 2-pk at Target for $15.99. Hope this helps.
