Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

SOURCE: card locked

Take the SD card out and unlock the card by moving a small slide on the side of the SD card, sometimes you can accidentially lock it when re-inserting the card.

Most SD Memory cards have a little switch on the side to lock them, try switching that to the other position.

I have a Casio Exilim EX-Z80A and it shows that the SD card is locked. I tried sliding the thing on the side of the card, but nothing. I even put in a different card, but it still shows Card Locked! Please...

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out (note 2GB or less standard SD cards. These are very inexpensive these days, and are available on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them). There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

I am unable to take photos with my samsung digimax s800 camera as the message 'CARD LOCKED' keeps coming up on screen. I have deleted loads of photos so the memory card is definitely not full. Any ideas?

Memory card problem

Are you sure you have the right type of memory card? Make sure you use an SD/MMC card. You might try another SD card.

Is this a new camera? I bought one once and the card slot was defective. I took it back right away, rather than trying to force a card into it.
