How do i hook a numark tt 1625 turntable to a regular home stereo amplifier...does the ground need to go into anything specific?

Like any other turntable - into a Phono preamp.

It looks like your amplifier has not got a "magnetic cartridge pre-amp" built in, or you have it connected to a tape/cd input instead of a phono input. All you need is to search online for one and that will connect between your deck and amp and it will then be the same volume as anything else connected to the amp.

I can't find a reference to the TT-01, but if it's an old school turntable you need to run it through a Phono preamp.

It would help to know what electronics you're using as THAT is where the volume comes from.

The TT should be connected to a specific PHONO input as it includes special preamplification for a Phono cartridge and frequency shaping for the way LP's are recorded (Google RIAA). I imagine it may sound pretty tinny as you have it now.

A metal tone arm has a ground wire that connects it to the back of the stereo via the Turntable chassis. If this wire is broken (inside the deck of the turntable) or the ground to the stereo is not done, you can have this issue. No, the ground through the audio connectors is not sufficient.

Please recheck all connections from the 'needle' to the end of your hook-up cable. Check with a continuity checker if you have one (volt/ohm meter will do nicely)

i used to have stanton t80s,had the same problem no gnd on deck but diddnt need it there waqs no bad earth so if it sounds good leave it

You have to amplify the output from your turntable output to the input of your amplifier. To do this you can buy what is known as a pre-amp. Radio shack probably still sells them.
Be sure to ground your turntable to your amplifier and not the pre-amp. This should stop any hum or at least diminish it. Bear in mind that your records will not sound as loud as your CD's. Hope this helps.

I don't suggest using the originals that came with the turntables, as they aren't of the greatest quality. For a small investment (about $50), you can get some better quality cartridges/needles.
