I have not figured out how to open the casing lid to replace the battery, but the number for the battery you need should be engraved on the lid. Double check your own lid, but mine says that the battery is an SR621SW. I'm sure there are different brands that would match this number.
All battery driven watches are sensitive, not just the Chase-Durer. Even the cheap ones, as the movement can be damaged or destroyed by the static electricity (touch of the bare finger). Extra care is not needed to replace your watch battery, just you have to follow some simple, but very basic rules.
