Electronics like this have their power regulated by a soft switch that depends on electronics to turn on and off the juice. (In other words, a mechanical switch is not used.) These sometimes go bad in that they "leak" and don't turn off completely. Your battery then takes a hit.
.
The solution is to have it sent off. The repair center probably does nothing more than replaces the entire circuit board.
Hi joanna,
It is probably not turning on due to extremely low battery. Have you been using it for quite a few years? Then there may be a problem with the battery. But before that, please try connecting the player to another USB port on your computer, or removing any USB extensions except what SONY provided, or upgrading your USB driver. If nothing works, I'm afraid you'll have to refer it to a service center.
• Make sure the player is not on hold. Look at the side of the unit and make sure that the HOLD switch is positioned to OFF. • When you charge the player, does it indicate it's charging? If it does, connect the unit to the PC and poke the reset hold (at the back) with a paper clip until the lights on the unit go out. Disconnect the unit and try turning it on. • Worst case scenario is the unit may be defective.
reset the player. You will lose all of your songs that are on the player and have to re-add them.
If it is still acting up, take it back to the store and exchange it. I had this problem many times.
Plug your MP3 Player into your Pc and Format The removable Drive Then Re-load your music onto it if that doesn't work it'll have to be a hardware problem my only other suggestion is get out your Guarantee and send it in
Did you charge the unit over night? When they are brand new, the batteries are not always charged. See if the lights and screen come on when it is plugged into the charger. If so let it charge over night and try turning it on again. Otherwise, you should probably return the unit.
