Check cable from computer (VGA cable is loose, or bad) one of the pins is not making contact. Try another cable, if that doesn't cure it then you have a bulb going bad.

Screen colours are "additive".
They take some amount of each of the 3 "primary" colours, to make a specific colour. For example, 100% + 100% + 100% gives "white". Getting "pink" when you expect "white" means that you are getting 0% instead of 100% of one of the 3 colours.

Standard VGA (with DDC VESA) pins are H-Sync = 13 and V-Sync = 14. R G B are 1, 2, and 3 respectively. Ground is 5, Red Shield 6, Green Shield 7, Blue Shield 8, 5V 9 (if there is a pin in the connector), Sync Return 10. 4, 11, 12 are ID Bits 2, 0 and 1 respectively, 15 ID Bit 3 (or clock pulse). If your connector does not have anything in 9 and 15, then it is not have DDC VESA.
Your Cannon printer is not the problem. You will get different print color depending on the paper you are using, For example you will get different print result if you print on color paper than on white paper and a different print if you print on photo paper. Another alternative is to lighten the tone of your purple. I don't know what your objective is and what project you're working on but I hope this might help.
There is no adjustment to printing coloured text. This is rather unusual. I feel you maybe using recycled cartridges and the magenta is not true magenta. I once bought a couple of so called magentas and they turned out to be orange!!
