sounds like you need a new motor or the capacitors are making noise if not new replace motor dont forget to replace seals also

DIRTY START switch or the motor is locked up, breaker off ! remove motor from tank body and see if the motor will turn over if it does could be the switch or the motor is shorted witch there is no fix but a new or rebuilt motor. search your area for your local pool pump motor repair guy with free testing..

the capacitor is located in the housing that is on the top of the motor.

My above ground pool overflowed onto the Hayward Pump and now the GFCI just Pops when the pump is plugged in. What do I have to do to the Pump. Seems water may have got in to it. Thanks Graham Payne

IT IS POSSIBLE IT MAY DRY OUT HOWEVER UNLIKELY
STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE MOUNT OR HAVE EQUIPMENT MOUNTED AT LEAST 5 FT AWAY FROM POOL 1 TO 1.5 FT HIGH

Jay, to be honest, with all the time your gonna spend searching and trouble shooting the pool is going to turn green and then your going to be stuck with bigger problems. The powerflo pump is a pretty inexpensive pump. Personally id just swap the pump and get it going so the pool stays clear.

Over the winter,tinker with the bad pump and see if you can fix it. If not, trash it. If you can fix it save it for a spare or sell it for 75$ on craigs list and make half your money back you spent on the new one.

Powerflo matrix pump is humming not pumping

I think you have a start/run capacitor issue or your impeller has spun its center out. Check the impeller first. If the impeller is intact, take your motor to your full service pool professional for repair.

I think you have a failed start capacitor. Have your motor looked at by your professional pool supply.

Hayward AO Smith Pump Motor is getting electricity but won't star

Make sure the motor spins by hand, then make sure the contacts on the v shaped start switch as closed when motor is off and make sure the capacitor is good a bad one usually leaks black stuff all over. To avoid buying a capacitor you might not need have it tested

Where can I find a replace thermal overload protector?

See if there is another part number for that breaker (CET51 ABM).

No, your model number starts with 's' which means it is a split phase design; no capacitors are present in a split phase motor. If the motor is failing to start and just hums the only part that you can replace that MAY be the problem is the internal starting switch. If the switch is not the issue it is the winding itself and not worth fixing.

Sometimes the smallest detail can be a golden nugget! S(or SP?) Split Phase AND NO CAPACITORS!! My pump (SP1515Z1BC) won't start just hums. Interestingly the centrifugal switch is open when motor is stopped. Apparently, the start winding is always connected and the run winding is connected when the centrifugal switch spins closed.
