My laptop does not want to install xp or even formate the disc when laoding xp,it does boot but when it has to finish the process it stops working or installing it gives me an option of only installing the new window on 4080 MB the har drive is not appearing only a portion of 4080 and when one installs on that 4 gig it stops and says error cant finish intsalling exit or resart

To format the hard disk and re-install Windows use the Windows installation CD, and the Windows Product Code on the label at the bottom of your laptop.

hi there. As long as you have an xp/vista disc the process is simple. Here's what to do:
1-Insert the xp/vista disc into the laptop.
2-restart the laptop and boot from cd
3-click to reformat drive and fresh install xp/vista
4-when needed, insert cd key which is located on the bottom of your laptop.
5-Make sure to install updates eg, service packs etc and security software.

Yes, Insert the Dell XP disc, and when your computer first stars, in the right hand corner there should be setup and boot devices. Choose boot devices and run off the disc. After that, there will be an option to Format All your drives, (even some you might not know about :P). From there you can install XP onto your laptop.

seems that it's a SATA drive and the drivers are not included in XP.
There are some tools available to include these drivers into the XP CD.
Search the net for 'xp-iso-builder' or 'n-Lite'.

This is not necessary if your laptop's got a floppy drive (i don't think so). Then the SATA drivers can easily be loaded by pressing F6 when booting from the XP CD.
