My Sharp LC-52E77UN TV shut off one day for no reason. The power light was blinking. I had a repair person come out and he reset it by holding the down the buttons while plugging it up. They charge me 90 for that. Now they called back two days later and said that the back light is out and that what they did was just a quick fix. They said it will be a 475 to replace. My question is does that sound normal? My tv hasn't went back out yet. What should I do? I think that it is fine..

The power supply is the biggest problem that we see right now. You can take the TV apart and check the capacitors in the power supply for bulging on the ends, that indicates that they are bad. Caps are very inexpensive.

Power and OPC light blinking. TV doesn't turn on.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Unplug the power and leave it unplugged for a few minutes.
Then press and hold the buttons on the TV while another person plugs it in. Hold the buttons down for 30 seconds, or until the set beeps.

It is possible that the flash update was not successful for some reason, in which case the set may have to be returned to the factory, or a factory service center to be reflashed properly.

TV won't turn on

the first thing that you need to do is to open the back cover of your tv.Go to the power supply section it is separate board where the power cord is connected.Using a multitester, plug in the power cord and measure for the output supply.see if the 5vdc ,12vdc and 24vdc are present..if one of this output is missing, replace the power supply board But if the output voltage are complete, replace the inverter board,It is a board that supplies the high voltage to the backlights of your monitor/screen....You can also try to reset the system of your tv by pressing the the small switch mounted on the main board press it twice while the power is on...tnx and good luck!

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
