How to recove Seagate external hard drive data?

Probably, the new operating system cannot recognize your Seagate external hard drive. You can connect the Seagate external hard drive to another computer to copy data to another device. If the problem still exists, you might need to perform data recovery. You can free download the data recovery software: http://www.icare-recovery.com/seagate-recovery/seagate-external-cannot-be-recognized.html

Will a seagate pipeline 500 gb hdd from a lorax dvr work in a pc?

Yes it will work in a PC. All 3.5" sata drives are standardized. Connect it via a SATA cable and you will need to format the drive to work with windows. To do this:

1) Right-click on my computer
2) Click on "Manage"
3) Click yes to allow if any dialogue's pop up.
4) When the menu pops up look at the left side menu and click on "Disk Management"
5) Look for your drive in the list when it populates. It should show a 500GB drive and it may show an error on it since it is not formatted for windows.
6) Be sure this is the correct drive you want to use! Formatting it will erase EVERYTHING on the drive.
7) Right click on the drive in the bottom list and select the Format option.
8) Give it whatever name you want, make sure the format is set to NTFS, check the box for quick format.
9) Let it format, this should only take a few minutes. After that it will show up as a blank drive in My Computer!

Hi, I tried to install a new Seagate 500GB HD on my windows XP system, I also used a bridge card to adapt the drive, as my system is IDE, the new Seagate is SATA, no jumpers on this drive. Problem is once...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps don

My mac OS X 10.4.11 won't let me drag and drop into Seagate Expansion 500GB - says it can't be modified!!! Help please.

If the drive is formatted with NTFS (the format used by recent Windows operating systems), then you won't be able to write to that file system.

What you will need to do is reformat the drive to HFS or FAT32.

If you will be moving the drive between a Windows and a Mac, then you'll have to format with FAT32. If you will only be using the drive on your Mac or other Macs, then format the drive with HFS.
NOTE: unless you copy the existing files off of the drive first, you will lose all data on the drive.
To do this, do the following:
  • Copy all existing data off of the Seagate drive to a safe location
  • Unmount the Seagate hard drive
  • go to your Machintosh HD / Applications / Utilities folder and start "Disk Utilities"
  • Select the Seagate drive from the list
  • click on the Erase tab
  • Select the Format. For HFS choose "Mac OS Extended (journaled)" for FAT32 choose "MS-DOS FAT"
  • Type a name for your volume in the Name: field
  • Click the "Erase..." button and allow the Disk Utilities program to format the drive
  • Once the drive is formatted, you will be able to save files to the disk.
Thanks for using FixYa and have a great day

How do I format my new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard Drive to Fat32 for use with Xbox 360? I am using Windows 7 and when I open up the formatting options only NTFS and exFAT are available.

Windows Disk Management can only format a hard drive less than 32 GB to FAT32. If you want to format your 500GB drive to Fat 32, you need to use third party program like AOMEI Partition Assistant. http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html

Ps3 not formating 500gb internal new hard drive?

Hi Eric,

First you will need to connect the hard drive to your computer or a friends, either using a hard drive enclosure or cable

Then you need to format the drive into fat32 format (full format recommended , not quick format)

Then put it back into your ps3 and have a usb flash drive with the latest ps3 software loaded

then you will be able to format the drive and load the ps3 os
