The problem is your computer uses a SATA hard drive and windows XP doesn't naitively support SATA. You have three options around this.
Go into BIOS and if you have disable SATA/AHCI and set it to SATA/IDE emulation mode
Download nlite http://www.nliteos.com/download.html and download sata drivers from intel's website and build your own windows XP disc and incorporate the sata drivers into it. Then use this disc to install.
Download VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ and install XP in a virtual machine to run on top of Windows 7
Windows XP will go end-of-life in 2014 and then Microsoft will no longer make software that is compatible FYI.

the blue screen may be a hard disk management issue ..to be exact the bus selected for the hard disk in the BIOS settings is not the one the operating system was installed with ..and it has no driver ..or it was installed with the raid or ahci driver and now it does not have it anymore..corrupted or deleted.. the thing to do is to press f2 on start and go to bios settings..In there select the first tab ..and look for the hard disk .In the same category with the hdd you will find the settings for the bus..It is somethin called AHCI mode..and you need to disable it and let it run on sata as ide..or in ide compatible mode...after you make the changes..save the settings with F10 and restart (exit by pressing enter ...save settings and exit -yes) If the changes are made correctly ..it will boot up like a charm .. Or ..if it does the same it may be a damaged operation system and in this case you have to reinstall it or use the recovery partition ..
If the blue screen appers when you boot up ..right after the windows screen is on ..and shuts it down ..than you have to get to BIOS settings ..and change the hard disk bus mode.. from raid or ahci ..into Ide compatible ..or native mode.. or sata as ide...depending on what you have available ..and after that save changes with f10 and restart ..It will boot up fine .. After you get in windows you can install raid and ahci drivers and try to see if will work in the initial mode ..by changing back ..but if it does not work ..let it be ..and use it in ide mode..It not that mush difference anyway ..
1) Get SATA drivers for Windows (whatever flavour you use) For you who want to get driver AHCI for Acer 4530, the driver can be download here: http://rapidshare.com/files/196616727/Driver_AHCI_Acer_4530_-_Windows_XP.rar
2) Control Panel, Add New Hardware. 3) Yes, already connected, browse to the bottom, hit “add a new device” 4) No, point it to the directory of your SATA drivers 5) Choose your driver from the list that returns. (Mine was the nVidia SATA controller) 6) Uninstall other standard IDE controllers (Not Primary nor Secondary) 7) Reboot and enter your BIOS 8) Change to AHCI mode 9) Boot to Windows… , if you success you will not meet the Blue Screen and Windows will install and find the driver automatically. 10) Windows wants to reboot. Do that. 11) Go to Device Manager and then uninstall the AHCI controller that you installed (there will be two or more now, but must Uninstall the one with the exclamation mark) 12) Success!
