My older Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 is leaking gas from the grommet that connects the hose to the tank. I cannot get needle nose plyers inside the tank to tighten the nut (if there even IS a threaded nut in there). Any suggestions?

I have a coleman powermate pulse 1850 the wore a hole in the fuel tank. Talked to coleman and they have discontiuned the fuel tank, does anyone make a after market tank to replace the orginal.

If you feel comfortable taking the tank off yourself, there are many good plastic repair compounds out there that are fuel resistant. There are products designed to go on the inside of a motorcycle tank to fill rust pinholes on older bikes. it is called kreem.

do a search on plastic repair, and try one of the two part repair compounds. Harbor freight sells a plastic welder that will allow you to melt the tank and add plastic filler rod straight to the problem area, or you can use a soldering iron to melt the hole closed. be sure to wash the tank out with dawn dish soap first to get rid of the gas residue. dry it out good before the repair.

I have a Coleman generator 1850 pulse and it runs ok for a little

Gravity feed fuel systems are the most simple and reliable way to deliver fuel to the engine, however suffer from a couple of problems.. As the engine heats up fuel tends to be pushed out of the carb back into the fuel tank and if the vent in the gas cap is not working properly fuel lock (or a slight vacuum in the tank) will prevent fuel from entering the carb. There should be a plastic block or manafold seperating the carb from the engine to keep the carb from overheating. Some engines have this block bolted to the engine, then the carb bolted to block., others have two bolts thru the carb and block to engine. In ether case make sure parts are held tightly together so no vacuum leaks thru gaskets.. One should make sure that the gas cap is venting. Sometimes fuel sloshing in the tank will clog the vent-hole in the cap. Try running the generator with the cap loose to see if this helps.. Replace fuel cap as needed if vent is clogged. Good luck with your generator.

Pull start recoil assembly

I bought a replacement recoil starter for my 1850 at Pats small engine parts. The part number for a 3.5 B & S is 499706. If you look on the heat shield on the side of the motor there is the engine model and s/n. Hope this helps.

I have a Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 Generator.

Hi,
If the generator hasn't been used for awhile the rotor may have lost it's magnetism. All you need is to re-excite it. There are several websites that explain how to do this. It's a good place to start.
