Your answer is in the last line, unless you have those lights, the opener assumes something is in the way. Make sure you have the green one pointing in the direction of the local sunsets as this is also a problem certain days of the year.
The motor/control unit may have gotten reset. It needs to relearn the codes transmitted by the remotes.
MIne has a "learn" button on the control unit. Press and hold, then press the button on the remote. Lights will flash indicating it has received and stored the code. Release button.
Check to see if the remote works now. If so, all three should be working. If not, dig up your manuals.
Try reprograming the opener to each remote, if this doesn't work then the command/radio module in the opener is damaged and needs to be replaced. Hopefully you can find one or you will have to replace the whole garage door opener. Good luck.
If the remote opens and closes while inside the garage but not outside , there are a few things it could be. Assuming it was working fine before..
1. weak battery in remote.
2. remote itself could be bad. (unless you have more than 1 remote acting the same)
3. Logic board in opener is going bad causing limited range. Is the wire that hangs down from the opener straightened out? That is your remote antenna. Some people have coiled or even cut it off..reducing range.
4. Less likely but this can happen- interference from another electronic device, wireless routers, cell phone, new appliances etc.. can reduce remote range. Any new electronics recently purchased?
Check your door sensors. They have probably been bumped. Tweak them until they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.
There should be 2 sensors on the bottom of your door on the inside, 1 on the right side and 1 on the left side. These sensors serve 1 purpose to send a beam or reflection to each other. If something is blocking this reflection or is in front of the sensor the door will always come back up. It is a safety feature so nothing or no one gets hurt when the door is closing!
Okay...upon further inspection, my left spring has broken in two. Going to call around for some quotes to replace the spring. Thanks for the suggestions.
