NetGear WNR1000 Router Logo

My Wii will not connect to my router. I have tried all the routerlogin.net and .com solution attempts. Also the 192.168.1.1 stuff. No luck. Netgear tells me I have to use their support tech at $69.995. No way! Anyone out there can help me?

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2011

Ezra. Thanks for the assist. I'll try it, but I have already done most of that stuff.
Netgear told me I had a "problem" with my router and needed it to be "reprogrammed" or something of the sort. I am not very literate at computers but I knkow a BS sales pitch when I hear one. Is there a way to reset the system without having to reset my 3 laptops? I have a "secure" wifi network in my home.

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2011

Also, my 3 laptops are working fine with the router. It's just the Wii that won't connect.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to connect you Wii to the internet wirelessly first we need to know the settings of your router. Listed below are the steps on how to access your router. You need a working computer connected to the router to access it follwed by the steps on how to connect our Wii.

How to access the Router:

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key (Wep/Wpa Key) or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure. Network Key is case sensitive.

Now that we have the information needed lets connect your Wii to the internet.

1. Select Wii Settings
2. Then Internet Connection Settings
3. Search for an AP or SSID
4. Input Security Key or Network Key
5. Test the Connection.
Other Suggestion

Did this connection used to work but has suddenly stopped? "Power cycle" your router by unplugging it from the power outlet. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then plug in the router. Try to connect the Wii and test for proper response.

The Wii may have detected and set itself to the wrong security type during the initial connection set up. Try creating a new connection file and going through the connection process again but be sure that when the Wii asks for a security code, the type shown on screen (WEP or WPA) is what your router is set to. If it is different

Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker

Don't forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya

you can reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of the router however the settings will be back to its original state. You can still configure your laptop wirelessly by making sure you get the SSId and network key by following the steps mention above.

How do I change the log-in from the factory default. I tried to go the http://192.168.0.1, as directed, but got nowhere?

Try www.routerlogin.net www.routerlogin.com or http://www.192.168.1.1 instead.
the default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".
To change log-in details: On the main menu, under Maintenance, select Set Password to display the Set Password screen.
Have a good one.

to configure the netgear router and to secure its network. . . . 1, first make sure that your laptop is connected directly to the netgear router via ethernet cable. 2. after securing step 1, on your computer, open browser, ( internet explorer or firefox ) 3. go to the address bar, the one with the http:\\ and erase everything inside it. 4. type in there, 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net. 5. username is " admin " password is " password " 6. you would see netgear set up wizard. 7. for wireless configuration, click wireless settings on the left side of the set up wizard. 8. you can edit network name, and get your network security key under security options. make sure to choose WPA PSK TKIP. so that you can have a personalize network key 9. the network security key is the " passphrase " then click apply. then your all set for wireless connectivity.

I tried to connect Netgear Wireless Router WPN824v3 to my Compac Presario CQ60 Notebook using the installation CD provided with router. After connecting all required cables and reapplying power to modem...

Try connecting a cable directly from your router to your laptop and using the actual IP address of your router instead of routerlogin.com, being a Netgear it should be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
Hope this helps.
