Do you getting anything on your screen when you first turn on your computer. This will tell me if the problem is with the video card or something else on the computer.

Also what kind of monitor do your have CRT or LCD. If LCD do you have an old CRT that you can connect to the computer for testing.

Also does the computer sound like it is booting normally or does it not seem like it is booting up.

Ok since you can get into the Bios we know that the video card is some what working. So at this point it sounds like you may have a driver problem with the video card/monitor drivers.

I ran into this the other day when I had a computer on one of my work benches with a CRT testing the computer. When I booted up the system it came up in standard VGA 800x600 with an error that there was a problem with the video card drivers. After I reinstalled the drivers for the video card the LCD worked fine.

The reason for this is LCD monitors are really picky on the signal that you send to them. So if the refresh rate gets off then monitor will turn off. In your case most likely with the EMachine it is set to quick boot so you never see any of the pre-boot info and all you get is a blank screen.

Now if you do not have access to an CRT monitor (it you are a tech it is a good idea to have one for these cases) you may be able to try to install another video card to see if this will force Windows to update the video card drivers. Also another thing you can try is to pull your hard drive and do a fresh test install of Windows to see if the problem is actually with Windows or the card its self.

Unfortunately if you have gone through what I have suggested and still have trouble then this means that you most likely have trouble with the motherboard.

THe Emachines T6534 is not recognizing the monitor i have plugged in, thoguh the monitor is also emachines and i'm pretty sure it came with the computer

The problem could be with your Graphics card.

1) Try the monitor on another PC, is it good? If yes
2) Try removing and re-seating the graphics card.
3) If on board graphics and so no graphics card, try a PCI graphics card in one of the spare slots

Comp not reading montor

It sounds like the on board video has failed. I would try installing a video card on the motherboard. Then in the bios at start up, disable the on board video, so it will use the video card instead.

I hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa,
