When i turn on my samsung 2233rz is displays correctly for a couple of seconds, then goes black but i can still see the display if i shine a flashlite on it. i took out the power board to look for bad caps but didn't find any obvious signs of bulging or overheating. i disconnected 1 of the bulbs (it has 2) and it lights for a second but when i check the other side it does not light at all, so i changed the bulb leads to the other side of the board and the lite that didn't lite, lites ok for a second or two. Its like one side of the board is not putting out power for the bulb and it shuts down because of an imbalance in current between the 2 bulb circuit. Anyone have any other expiriance with this situation and any possible other problem components or solutions. Thanks does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi,
Im glad to know that you have enough knowledge and are able to work inside such electronics. I do have some study/ repair experience of LCD Displays/ Laptop displays. I will describe my point of view in general terms.
There are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL (Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. Either of the parts can be faulty or in some rare cases both. But in this case I think it is most likely the Inverter circuit. (Its life is limited and depending upon how long it has been in use, you can have a better idea - if its the CCFL or Inverter)
So, my advice is that you check the Inverter Circiut.
Make sure you take proper precautions while working with it as Inverter generates very high voltage.

Hope this answers your question!

Screen goes black but sound is good.

This sounds like the inverter which powers the display fluorescent has or is failed/failing. If you take a torch to the blacked out display can you see the image faintly? If so the unit needs repairing.

The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.

My monitor keeps going to a black screen a coulpe of seconds after being turned on

Video (picture) must be constantly entering a monitor for a monitor to continue to display a picture after it self tests (goes on for a second or, two) Your monitor is fine; check it using another known good computer.

Screen goes blank after a few seconds

Hi ,
The monitor flicker problem. The monitor when turn on will display image for couple of second then turn black. The monitor status led is still green. This will happen each time it is turn on. The symptom at appear to come from the inverter board.

Monitor went black in seconds

oboy, One thing to try is the flashlight test. and get backto me with your findings. Tell me, does this lcd show a nice display only for 1-2 seconds and then a black screen when connected to a fully booted PC with Windows desktop displayed? Shine a bright flashlight 1-2 inches from panel and tell me if you see the WINDOWS START Button at lower left of screen even though screen is black! Get back to me if you can. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com BYE for now.

Samsung lCD monitor displays for 1 sec

This sounds like the backlight in your monitor has gone. I have seen this a bit in samsung LCD's. You can usually tell this by getting a torch and shining it on your screen. By doing this you should be able to see the display on the monitor.

The first thing to do is check the monitor is under warranty. Samsung have fairly lenghty ( 3 years i think) warranties with them. If it is under warranty they will replace it no questions asked.

Otherwise, you could try your hand at replacing the backlight yourself. I'm not too sure of what is involved in this, but know of people who have done it and said it was fairly easy.

I hope that helps, please don't forget to rate my answer if it does.
