Canon ZR60 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Logo
Posted on Feb 22, 2011

Canon ZR60 - I bought this in 2004 and it worked fine. However I put it away and just brought it out again. Everything seems to work fine except for the fact then when I try and record there is just a black screen. Looking at various posts on the website this seems to be a recurring problem with the camcorder even if used consistently. It has not had any jarring, nor heating problems in the time it was stored. Due to present circumstances, I cannot afford a new one and the dowloaded images from my previous tape worked fine on Windows XP for what I need to do. Please advise.

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My sony pulse headset works fine except every once in awhile it cuts out (will be talking in group then sound cuts off cant hear or be heard) for about 30 sec then works again. batterys not low, blue light...

I was having this issue while using this headset on my PS4. I bought a small,2ft USB extension, to move it away from the PS4 console by about 2 feet and now it works perfect. It was something about the interference from the remote controls. Hope this helps.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

Canon PIXMA 530 grinds away

I had a persistant grinding noise about 30 seconds after the printer finished printing. It's been going on about 2 months. I did one thing which seemed to work. So try opening the cover on the back of the machine by lifting upward on the gray lever in the middle of the back of the machine. Leave this cover open during and after printing. The grinding noise went away.

My Canon won't connect to my new iMac running Leopard

I've seen that before. It can be a loose connection (cables can be tempramental). I've changed what appear to be perfectly good cables, and which work fine on another computer, with a different cable and it worked. Also, some computers seem to care about sequence. Close the program with the camera connected, and on, and reopen it. Sometimes that works.

Playback difficulties

Not specific enough but I would run a head cleaner thru it for 10 seconds and see if that improves things and always use the same brand of tape to prevent gum issues.
