Hello spark... no warranty unless the microwave is under 1 year. If there is a lot of rust and delamination you are best off to replace this oven.

The problem with delamination is that it exposes bare metal and can result in dangerous arcing.

If it is not real bad, sand off the rust and spray paint it with microwave cavity spray paint available at this link http://www.appliancezone.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=8338&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Our De Dietrich DME715X microwave oven is sparking from the ceiling - have tried a new wave guide cover but that did not work.

Some ovens have a tuning stub in the wave guide. If it has become loose or rusted, it could cause the problem. If that's the cause, you would have to transfer all of the oven's components to a new cavity. This is usually not done due to the cost, although I did do this once on an oven that was still under warranty.

Make sure the wave guide is clean inside.

Also check for rust near the wave guide cover. Re painting damaged areas might help.

Sparks fly, too, if the ovens contents do not contain enough water to absorb enough of the microwave energy. Leftover energy converts itself into electrical current in any conductive material (such as cavity panels).

What cause sparks to shoot inside the Daewoo KOR-1B4H Microwave Oven when it is empty?

You should never run a microwave with nothing in it!! There is nowhere for the energy to go. The oven itself has a special coating that keeps the sparks from happening. Anywhere the coating is bad will arc. If it keeps arcing it will burn out the microwave generator.

The metal is showing inside. The white coating is pealing. Is this dangerous?

The peeling of the white coating inside of the microwave oven is dangerous in terms of creating a fire hazard and potentially contaminating the food you cook within it. This can be prevented by cleaning up all splatters and spills immediately before using the microwave oven again. You can fix the peeling by replacing the microwave oven or repairing it. To repair it, you will have to remove the peeling coating and then repaint the interior of the microwave with paint that is designed for microwaves in general. Though, if you do this, you will have to let the paint dry up for at least 24 hours. I hope this helps you!

My oven sparks from the metal plate on the side.

Check to see if there is any rust or cracks in the coating that came from the factory. Some microwaves use metal underneath an epoxy type coating and if it is exposed, it can cause an arc from the microwave generator. If there are any defects in the surface, it can be sanded down and you can purchase a can of interior microwave paint and put a coat of paint over the defective area. Also look for any exposed metal in the area of the sparks, there should no metal exsposed anywhere, if it is, cover it with the paint. hope this helps.

The microwave oven coating is peeling and exposing rust spots. what can I do to fix this? Do I need a professional repair person?

No this is something you can repair yourself. Take sandpaper and gently rub rust spots until smooth. Then you need to get ceramic touch-up paint and repaint rust spots.

On the bottom of my microwave, the coating started "chipping" off and now there is a fairly large area that appears to be rusting and makes where the turntable wheels rest look really dirty. Is there...

This is often caused by spills and condensation.

The metal will have to be sanded smooth and clean.

You can use a wire brush and naval jelly to get rid of the rust.

If any rust remains, you can use Rust Reformer paint to stop the rust process, then sand it smooth when it's dry.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

I have a Spacesaver Microwave (manufactured 1988) that still seems to work ok, but I noticed on teh back wall under the glass tray the coating has rusted away. Should I continue to use this microwave?

Hi,

As long as the oven's metal bottom is sound underneath the rust, there isn't a problem. The cooking chamber walls are so thick and highly conducting that they reflect the microwaves extremely well even when they have a little rust on them. However, if the metal is so rusted that it loses most of its conductivity in the rust sites, you'll get local heating across the rusty patches and eventually leakage of microwaves. If you're really concerned that there may be trouble, run the microwave oven empty for about 20 seconds and then (carefully!) touch the rusty spots. If they aren't hot, then the metal underneath is doing its job just fine.

Thanks.

PEELING COATING IN MY SUNBEAM MICROWAVE OVEN

Yes, if the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Otherwise, you can have rust and arcing.

Prematured failure of micro oven.

nothing, its scrap. You may be able to patch up the rust spots if not too bad with enamel paint but its not recommended.

Plscti/ teflon coating inside the microwave

Is it plastic or paint? I would be surprised if it were plastic, as that would probably not withstand the microwave energy.

If it needs to be repainted, that can be done if it is cleaned and dried.

High temperature appliance paint is available from stores like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.
