I have a Samsung HDTV (LN-T5271F) approx 4 yrs .old and when I turn it on I get a double image on the left half of the screen, (double image up and down, not side to side), this goes away when the TV warms up but I, also, get a dark band across the screen, up and down, this lasts for 10 to 20 minutes, this covers about one half of the screen, and when the TV warms up it goes away. Any suggestions?

There is nothing else connected to the TV, well, the HD receiver and that's all.

  • lowelltonips Feb 21, 2011

Will do, but will have to let the TV cool down, this may take 2 or 3 hours, but will definitely get back with you on this. Could this be that I replaced a faulty main board with a faulty main board? Anyway will be in touch soon. Thanks

  • lowelltonips Feb 21, 2011

Yes, I did replace the main board within the past year, and yes, the double image was present when I unplugged the receiver. Would this LCD controller be on the main board? How can I tell what components are on the main board? And if I need to replace it AGAIN I'll need the number of it, thanks again and are we getting close?

eagle338 - Don't know if you received my last transmission but yes, I did get the double lines when I unplugged the receiver, would this controller be on the main board? And if so, would you know the number of the main board?

  • lowelltonips Feb 22, 2011

    Yes, very helpful.

eagle338 - Thanks for all of your help, as for the replacement, I think I can handle that. Have a fabulous day, and thanks again.

Do these bands appear even when no input is connected to the tv? It will help us isolate whether its an LCD controller problem or a problem with the video processing circuits

Thats what remove the input source and when you get the no input screen see if the lines persist and let me know.

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2011

Oh, so you already replaced the mainboard? Then I am sure that the lines will persist on the no input screen coz I suspect the problem to be the LCD controller. Anyways let me know

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2011

I am 100% sure its the LCD controller since the problem persists even though the tv has no input signal to process. Sorry for the delayed response Its 7.30AM here in India and I just logged in. Look for a small board above the main A/V it has 2 ribbon connectors going into the mainboard and 1 ribbon connector going into the screen. Get me the part number off it and I will find you the replacement

Had this exact problem diagnosed by a local repair shop as a bad LCD panel. According to the technician there's a loose ribbon cable on the panel and it would cost as much to replace/repair as a new TV.

Call Samung customer service, they are doing this repair for free. I had the same problem at 11 months, they replaced the power supply board under warranty. At 2 years I had the exact same problem again and this time they replaced 2 - 50 cent capacitors on the power supply board. It took the repair man less than an hour and he had the replacement capacitors on hand. The original board and the replacement board they gave me had capacitors that were faulty. Hopefully these new capacitors will last. I have to say that I was thinking (no more samsung products for me) but I got excellent customer service and they admit that they had a faulty product and they accepted responsibility.

Samsung TV now takes over 30min to come on

There are a number of Capacitors on the IP/Power supply bd and they have gone bad. Replaced them with the proper Capacitance as the old ones are BUT get the 35 volt Caps. Going from 10v to 35v will fix this problem.

Try reseating the LVDS cable. It runs from the main signal board to the T-con board at the top of the panel.
