Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settings Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

I have a Canon PowerShot SD1000 and it turns on, but the screen is blank. It will upload any photos taken (although you can't see what pics you take), but even then you have to click the button on the...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.
By the way, my wife happens to own a SD1000. Great little camera, but it's prone to stuck shutter every once and a while. Easily fixed each time though by simply opening the battery door while on, and gently flicking the lens barrel a few times. Again, see the link.

The shutter open sensor does not go on. (The shutter does not open.)

1. Check the shutter home position sensor. Is it normal? 2. Check the wiring between the finisher controller PCB and the stack feeding motor and between the finisher controller PCB and the shutter open/close clutch. Is it normal? 3. Is there a fault in the shutter mechanism? 4. Try replacing the stack edging motor and the shutter open/close clutch.

I am not getting an image either through the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. The display is clear and bright and the batteries appear to be fine.

LENS PROBLEM

The slightly open shutter is the reason for this problem. Thank God you mentioned it.
Solution: Try with your fingers to shift the shutter “blades” back and forth to see if they move freely. If they do no move freely it maens the shutter “blasdes” and stuck by particles/dust/something. So you just continue to shift them like that untill they are free again. Once they are free turn your camera back on and it should perform as normal.

Power shot a620. screen is not showing pictures, all icons are there but screen is black? Help please!!

Sounds like you might have accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. It turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Turn on your camera, and press this button once again to turn the screen back on.

But if your camera is also taking black pictures,
