You don't want to plug the device in to the computer before you install the driver according to their website. However according to the drivers page, they only have XP drivers. So unless you plug the thing in and Windows 7 says "Oh cool! A scanner, here's the driver." then you probably need a new scanner. If the company doesn't support windows 7, there's not all that much you can do unfortunately.
Download the driver. Well, it looks like this one does'nt have a vista driver. Download the windows XP driver and try your luck. Use the link below for download and instructions.
There could be problem because there are no official drivers for Vista only for Windows XP, but anyway it is possible to install drivers in Windows Vista compatibility mode. Steps to archive this are:
Very simple: download from Mustek site ONLY VPDriver.exe. Then open it and store files in a directory. Open Hardware directory on System properties, locates the unistalled item related to USB scanner, select reinstall drivers and point to the directory previous.
