ouch, i wouldnt run a checkdisk on an external hdd unless you are having problems with it, you can defrag it, and other things with no worry... just unplug it let it cool down and then plug it back in, the problem with running chkdsk on an external hdd that is larger than the one you have in your comp is in the bios, it doesnt recognize the whole thing and freaks out not knowing what to do with something bigger than what its programmed to use
if you put the old battery and it works properly then the new battery you bought is not the exact battery for your mp3.also i advice you to reformat your mp3
I see many comp. with problem on front usb port. In some case USB port isn´t right plug in motherboard, or is everything OK but they don´t recognize USB stick.
Only one, don´t lose you time with that, don´t use that USB port.
try downloading this and and scan may be it might locate yr drive since windows can still see it in device manager. and with these u can recover even deleted and formated files. try it http://services.seagate.com its trial version so u can get a full version n pay little or find similar software but i know yr drive can still work fine its just that we r missing something here.
thank u
there is a switch in the plug end to the back of your comp its like a little swinging door that when you unplug out of back of comp this switch engages battery now if you unplug just from wall its going to see these 2 things the doors not shut but i have to keep working so it sets aside the plug still recognizing it of course but running off the battery trying to still find out why the powers not there but the plug is still plugged in and it will continually search until it reaches its falt point of dead battery its like a battery backup for your system it gets unplug but wants to know where the power is
now in reference to the little swinging door i call it its a power over relay in your comp for some reason its not closing properly to allow battery to run by self this is usually just a switch that needs adjusted in the motherboard configuration
