Try taking the twin filters outside - also take a dustpan brush and tap the filters gently on the bottom, then brush the dust away as it comes out. This can take quite some time, and you will find that LOTS of compacted dust will come out!

Same thing happened to mine. Motor wouldn't start for filter clean. Phone help said take it to the shop. I did 2 things. 1. Let it cool. 2. Clean the cone filter. This is a little plastic mesh cone inside the dust catcher. Take off the dust catcher, look at the end opposite the lid, pull where it says pull. I picked out some cat hair (it wasn't super blocked) and replaced it and it started and a huge wad of cat hair and Lego and dust came up from the machine's innards with a pop. Now it is all good

Sometimes is enough to let it cool for an hour or two

What is that 'adjustable flap thing' between the filters for? It seems to be always set in what would be like half closed position? Thx.

This is not a real electrolux. Electrolux renamed themselves aerus electrolux. Eureka stole the name hot sued and starting this year cannot sell vacuums. You have to go to a dealer for a real electrolux.

Self clean and power lights flashing on electrolux

you either need new filters or you have a bad electronic board or possibly both. Most of these machines only last a couple of years. Not to discourage you, but do yourself a favor and don't buy another one. It's a chinese made Eureka with a lux label. Electrolux went bankrupt many years ago and Eureka bought the name. Miele, Sebo, Riccar, or Lindhaus are all better choices.

The vacuum won't turn on. plugged in, all lights flashing. no power

When switched on the vacuum goes through a self diagnosis test. Lights will come on for a while, then go out. If everything is okay, then the blue "Optimum" light will come on and stay on. If it turns of, a red indicator light should come on providing information on what's needed; i.e., filter or bag change needed.

Vacuum cleaner won't go - missing a step

In between the filters there's an access panel that can be removed - there may be a blockage there. You should also check your hose for a blockage.

Otherwise you may need to take it to your local Electrolux Service Center. There may be a problem with the pressure board. The machines have a 2 year warranty, not sure what it'd be in your neck of the woods.

Electrolux Z8240 model vacuum cleaner flashing red & blue 1 every 6 seconds. What could be wrong with it

Inside ,the dust collection container, there at the far end is a white cone shape (another filter). I think you may find this covered in lint etc and if you reach in with your hand you can just pull the stuff off. Happened to me around the two month mark and I THINK, so far, so good. My machine is now not switching off and flashing lights at me and the suction is back to fabulous. Found this information on another obsure website. You would think electrolux would mention it in their "Troubleshooting Guide" GOOD LUCK
